They called me this morning and left a message stating that they are calling about a "special offer" . It's definately not a fraudulent number.

First of all I do believe this is a scam because we called capital one but not the 8006552265 number; we called the number on the back of our actual card and they said that their is no problem with either of our cards and that they have no records showing a new card was being sent to us. In the letter we got in the mail it said to call8006552265 if we hadn't received a replacement card in the mail yet which first of all they said the card ended in xxxx which was the last 4 digits of my Husband's ss # we have no card ending in that. If we would have called that number due to the fact that of course we haven't received a relplacement card in the mail since its a scam we would have had to give them our personal info and they would have hacked us.

This is actually Capital One. I submitted an application for a Business account. They called me to confirm my application and finalize the setup. I have since visited the branch and everything is in working order, so this number is a legitimate call from Capital One. This is the consumer 800 number, but I was left a message with the small business number to call back.

This is Capital One Spark Pay. It's the stupid thing you plug into your iPhone or iPad to run payments. After giving me the card reader and me trying it out in by running $1 on my personal debit card, they call me today to tell me that they do not provide the service to my industry (credit repair company). HOWEVER, I've had my merchant services account through Capital One for 4 years now!!! Because of my industry, they take just over 3% of my money, but they will not allow me to use the stupid little card reader, that I'll never use. I hate these idiots! They've been raping me for 4 years!

Do not have a Capital One debit nor does this company have cell, etc. #.  This number calls and does not leave messages.  Bank has been attempting to sell their credit card versus debit ever since large grocery store hacking in area.  Hear stories about one businesses selling #s to one another and/or hackers.  If this were a legitimate Capital One offer they would send information via the postal mail and they have not done it.  Definitely not talking to these people because it sounds like hackers/scammers and one bad grocery store hack is enough in a lifetime.

We got a call from them this evening at 8:09pm, EST. Since the Caller ID didn't identify them as Capitol One (just gave the number) we didn't pick it up, and they didn't leave us a message. I'm wondering: scammers have used legit phone numbers from legit businesses before--so might there be a chance someone was using the Capitol One number as a cover? There are also credit card companies who have called claiming they were with Capitol One (and weren't, at least not directly) and tried to sell their crap. We have a policy, usually reserved for charity calls but I'd like to apply it to any call asking for information: NEVER give personal and sensitive information over the phone.

    This Number IS Legit
It is Capital One Bank. I called about an error they made on some paperwork, and this was the representative calling me back to discuss. Caller ID does show up as UNAVAILABLE on my phone, which I don't understand..Initially I let it go to my answering machine, and when the caller identified herself as Capital One on my answering machine, I picked up, as I was expecting their call. I wish Caller ID would just show Capital One, however, the call was valid.

Listing as "unknown" call type below because there is no choice for "Legitimate call"

I just got a call from 1-800-655-5265 claiming to be from Chase fraud dept.  They said there possible fraudulent charges on my Chase Liquid card.  They actually had the last 4 digits from my Liquid debit card.  When I called the number, they said I had won a prize and should press 1 to accept, 2 to decline the prize.  I pushed 2.  Then they asked me to take a survey about my vacation habits.  After the survey they said as thanks for taking the survey I had won a cruise ti the Caribbean for two.  I would have to pay some dock fees.  I should press 1 to accept.  Notice they did not give me a number to decline.  So I pushed 2 and they hung up on me.  Then I called Chase.  They said that was not a Chase number and cancelled the card and issued me a new card.

I received a call from this number on a phone number that is not tied to any of my banking or credit accounts. They asked for me by name but when I asked who it was, they hung up on me. I called back and an automated messages says it's Capital One Bank and to get you to a rep, enter your SOCIAL SECURITY number (I entered all 0's), THEN it asks for your debit card PIN. 1.) I don't have a debit card w/ Capital One. 2.) A bank would NEVER, EVER ask you to enter your personal information this way. Any legit financial institution would ask for your card number then verify ONLY THE LAST 4 DIGITS of your SSN. THIS IS A SCAM. Scammers can make any number appear, doesn't matter where they are calling from. Reported to Capital One's Fraud department and the local FBI.

    Fake Capital One Call
I received several calls from this number claiming to be from Capital One but no message was ever left. After finally answering the phone from annoyance, the man stated that my account has been compromised and that I needed a new card. When requesting for me to verify that I was the card holder, it replayed a message that sounded like a fake recording, asking for my PIN. I gave them a fake PIN to test and see if this was a scam. The man said I was verified and that I would be getting a new card. 2 minute later, the man called back and there was a verification error and asked for the 3 digits on the back of my card. I hung up on him and chatted with Capital One. The representative said that my account wasn't compromised and that it was a scam. I immediately requested a new debit card. Don't fall for this scam! No bank should ever ask you for a PIN or the 3 digits on the back of your card; if they do, it's a scammer.
