- ECalled me four times in a row on a Thursday evening. I missed the calls. No message left. Next day I look in my emails there is a notification that $1000 of my money was transferred from my savings to my checking. When I looked closer, I noticed The spoof number that called also called four times from another number disguised as capital one as well. So in total eight times and at the exact time this transfer was happening! I immediately froze my accts! Then... five days later someone calls from this number again. Asking if I knew about certain charges on my card that has xxxx last four numbers? It was the last four of my card. I asked why would you be calling me if my acct is frozen. They hung up and never called back! I called Capital one and they told me no one would ever call from that number. They likely were calling to get me to give them info so they could Zelle or withdraw the $1000. Seriously thinking of changing banks as I am getting harassed now by scammers bc of the data breach.

- Andrew SeeHi - I received a text, citing the Capital One number (800-655-2265) in the body of the text alleging to be "Capital One Fraud Ctr", re. a large zelle transaction and prompting a YES, NO or STOP response. The number that the message was sent from was: 925-503-0693. I called Capital One who confirmed there had been no fraud alert or attempted zelle transaction from my account and I reported the phishing attempt to abuse@capitalone.com

- Nene MackSo within a 2-minute window this (800-655-2265) number called me back to back. I decided to answer the phone the second call and the moment I said hello there was this weird bubble pop noise that led me to believe my conversation was being recorded. So when the Indian guy started talking I asked him "why do you keep calling me" and he immediately said "you don't even know why we're calling you, do you know what this Capital One call is for?" I politely said no and I advised him to stop calling me because for one I DON'T EVEN HAVE A CAPITAL ONE ACCOUNT!!

- NtheNOIf this is a Capital One number - you need to know this: Capital One uses people from the Philippines to call customers in the U.S. They use phone numbers with areas codes from the United States. If you ask them where they are physically located, they will avoid giving the answer as long as they can. If you tell them to forward you back to a U.S. rep, they will avoid this as well. They try their best to get your personal information.

- roby268I got a call from this number from someone with a thick Indian accent claiming to be from Experian with the old 0% financing bit. Not asking for a name. I made this person try to answer as to who I am. He couldn't answer. Today is my birthday and this was the last thing I wanted. My number is on the Do Not Call Registry. What good is it?

- HBDon't be fooled by what your caller ID says, these crooks can make their outgoing calls say anything they choose! They can make it show a bank, a store, the government, anything they choose. If they don't leave a message it's not important! Do not give out personal info, best policy.

- Georgina replies to KristieYou are absolutely right. They are scammers duplicating numbers. They called me claiming they are from Experian and saying they could lower my interest rate on my credit cards. They wanted to know how much I owe. I didn’t answer the question and asked how they plan on doing that. The guy gave me the same spiel. I asked him how he planned on doing that. He said, “I just explained it to you.” He didn’t, so I hung up.

- JenniferCalled my cell phone but I declined the call because it was an 800 number. From all the comments above it is clearly a scam since I do not and have never had any dealings with Capital One. Nor will I ever.

- ErocksRecieved a called from this number and the person said they were from Experian - proceeded to tell me my Mastercard and visa qualify for a lower interest rate. He never address me by my name until I asked to confirm who the call was intended for. I said to send me the offer via my email. Was very reluctant and wouldn’t stop asking me why I just couldn’t accept the offer. I hung up on him.
