Scam number.  Didn't get a call from them, but got a manila envelope hung on my door with a cheesy-looking yellow paper inside. No logo, no company name spelled out.  It had blanks that were poorly filled in by hand.  It read, IMPORTANT, PLEASE CALL.." then had a 'name' blank with the initials PLS (presumably Payday Loan Store) crossed out, followed by "DMI" with Dovenmuehle Mortgage's 800-669-0340 number below that.  Then (in English & Spanish) "PLEASE BE READY TO PROVIDE YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER. WE ARE EXPECTING YOUR CALL TODAY."  It has "SPI-020-12-09" in the bottom right corner, which appears to be there to give the appearance of a form number to add some level of authenticity to it.  We have had issues with our USAA mortgage because of job issues, but there is absolutely no connection at all with Dovenmuehle Mortgage.  I can only conclude that they are yet another scammer that preys on people by randomly checking for credit issues.  Anyone that purports to be a company that offers any form of credit can access your credit report for a "soft" credit inquiry.  Once they find that you're behind in payments, that you have a collection against you, etc., they then frighten people into to either paying them money or they simply trick you into providing enough personal information (like your full name, birthdate, SSN, home address, etc.) so that they can either sell that information, or so that they can use it themselves in a hundred different ways to extort money from you through scare tactics.  Don't fall into their trap!  Legit loan companies will correspond with you through the mail, on printed letterhead, with information sufficient for you to know the communication has a reasonable chance of being truthful.  Don't call using any phone numbers provided by emails, mailings, or some envelope someone hangs on your door.  If you are being told that you're delinquent in a loan, by all means look into it if you're not sure, but use telephone numbers from known valid paperwork or from the company's website.  Remember that there are a lot of scammers that will send "phishing" emails that will use a company's logo and use lingo that sounds legit to get you to clink on a link (which then infests your computer with malware) or to get you to call the provided number to con you into giving out personal information.  Though much more rare, this can be done with the US mail as easily as it could be done by email.  As for Dovenmuehle Mortgage, there are a lot of horror stories about them on the web concerning scams they've pulled, so be very careful with them.

Everyone else says they received an envelope, yet you received a phone call?  Why would they need to call you to tell you that your payment was due?  Were you late? I've never, ever gotten a call from a creditor of any sort to remind me to make my monthly payment.  At least not until I was actually late that is.  Also, if you knew who called you, why did you take the time to look up this number?  There wouldn't have been any reason to.

Just got an envelope on my door, December 24th 2016. I'm 2 weeks late on my payment to my mortgage company. I'm doing an interest rate reduction to lower payment due to loss of hours at work. What scumbags.....

Your questioning why someone is here about a phone call, but the "others received an envelope" and that didn't raise an eyebrow on why they are here? Got to wonder why you are here.

Web site lists them in Illinois and that they are a mortgage sub servicer: http://www.dovenmuehle.com/contact-us/borrowers/
    CFPB definitions:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/askcfpb/198/wh ... a-servicer.html
What’s the difference between a mortgage lender and a servicer?
Your mortgage lender is the financial institution that loaned you the money. Your mortgage servicer handles the day-to-day tasks of managing your loan. Your loan servicer typically processes your loan payments, responds to borrower inquiries, keeps track of principal and interest paid, manages your escrow account, and may initiate foreclosure if you miss too many loan payments. Your servicer may or may not be the same company that gave you your loan.

It would appear that the envelopes only contain a phone number and not the name of who left it (per Lincoln, CA April 21, 2016), so it would be natural for someone to look up the information that they have at hand to learn more.  On the other hand, it is not a natural response to look up a number when you know who called you, which is what I believe Zack was pointing out.  Also, as Zack said, and I agree, I also have never, ever had a lender of any sort call me to tell me that my payment was due.  If you have that much of a problem remembering when your mortgage is due, then you shouldn't be in charge of your finances and/or you need to get checked out by a doctor.  This outfit also seems to have a shady history of collection and mortgage servicing.

Now thats strange, i got an envelope as well, thinking it was a Christmas card by a neighborhood kid. I opened it  and saw the same junk as everyone else, lined yellow paper, bad handwriting. I wrote down the number to check on it later and tossed it in the trash. Never heard of this company anyway.

SCAM-same as above- received the yellow envelope on the door.- IMPORTANT -on the Name line- Your Mortgage Co. (LOL), Then the 800 number, and be ready to give your account- Yeah RIGHT!! etc. Everything was also in Spanish. I saw an older Hispanic female (not professionally dressed- jeans shorts and a too long t-shirt) walk up my driveway, go past my window to my door where she presumably hung the envelope. She took a picture of me through my window and continued to take pictures of my home as she walked back down my driveway. I don't think she saw me until she took the first picture. Fishy from the beginning. My house was up for sale and we get all sorts who think they can come up the driveway/on the property without an appointment so I at first thought she was just being a rude. I should have gone out the door after her instead of watching her taking pictures while I peaked through my blinds. I didn't know she'd left anything on the door yet. Anyway, too Suspicious for me.

Apparently it is Plaza Home Mortgage now... I was a few days late on my payment, made the payment on the 20th (4 days late), but received a call today wanting to transfer me to their collections department about my late payment so I said I paid online almost 2 weeks ago, have a confirmation number and it has been taken from my bank.. "Oh, well can I still transfer you to that department to update their information?" ummm sure?? Lady answers, wants to know if they can take payment over the phone today.  What?!  I made the payment on the 20th, my confirmation number is blah blah... "Oh yes Ma'am, I see that you did make the payment" Then why are you calling me???

She then proceeds to ask me if my next payment will be one time, when will it be made and how. It is not even November 1st yet...Asks me why I was late to begin with, then says, "oh, I see it in the notes here" What. The. Hell.

I am starting wonder about them now. They bought my home loan a few weeks after we closed, does anyone know if I can change who has my loan?

This isn't a scam, those doorhangers are delivered when foreclosure inspections of your home are being performed.  Those doorhangers are used by Safeguard Properties whose clients include PNC, Bank of America, M&T Bank, Dovenmuehle, Huntington Mortgage and other large lenders.  To make them stop you need to reach out and make payment arrangements with your lender.  Mortgages are bought and sold all the time and sounds like yours was one of them.

It's a foreclosure inspection and it was her job to take the pictures and report findings to the mortgage lender.  Pay on time or get used to monthly visits like that.

Or they could have had the wrong house? You just assume that this person is late? Maybe the Mortgage company screwed up? It isn't always the consumers fault, companies do make mistakes.
