The message left said I needed to call about an urgent matter regarding my account. When I called, it immediately asked for my account number (I typed in a fake one) and last four digits of my social security. I hung up at that point.

I got the same message as Mam above.  It got the first message on 9/28, another on 9/29.  Lots of banks call themselves Community Bank.  I think the message is clearly a scam of some sort.

These are REAL calls from COMENITY BANK.  They call as a courtesy regarding past due balances.  They provide BRANDED credit cards to businesses.  An example is Pier I Imports.  Confusing as if you have, say, a Pier 1 Imports credit card, you know you have a Pier 1 card, but usually are not aware and thinking that it is really a Comenity Bank Credit Card.  If concerned about the validity of ANY call, but believe you know the card or account in question, simply call the number on the back of the card, and let them know you received a call, and ask if it was real, and if so, what it was about.  IGNORING a real call could be detrimental to your credit and so while you should ALWAYS be cautious and careful about who you share your info with, you MUST do your DUE DILIGENCE and make sure that the call isn't real, before ignoring it.  Hope this helps.

Amadeus is full of it; all my Comenity cards were paid in full. If you look up on the back of your cards that you have call that number. Not this one that they want you to call to get information. Then your account can be worked on if needed.

This is from COMENITY Bank, NOT Community Bank.
They offer credit for places like Lane Bryant, Victoria's Secret, Ashley Stewart, etc.
They are not scammers. I have an account with them for several places. If they are calling you saying you have an account with them. You probably should check your credit and make sure someone didn't open a credit line in your name with them.

Yep. It is Comenity Bank. I was skeptical at first but then I got tired of getting an unknown phone call on my caller ID. So I called the 800-695-1063 according the voice message I received. They explained that I have a couple of cards opened from that bank such as Pier 1 and the Loft card. I found out that I had a $33.00 outstanding bill I had done back in Aug and had not been paid. The gentleman I spoke with was very kind and I did not have to give him too much information about myself. So when he got my name and address and birthdate, he pulled up my credit card information. As I was talking to him, I also logged on to that credit card site that I had already established and made sure that he and I were looking at the same credit card information. They sent me a bill through my email and had opt out of paper bill. Must have deleted that email thinking it was junk. I was relieved to find out that it won't go on my credit report since I paid it this month. So call them. It is NOT a scam. You could have an outstanding balance.

Yep. I took your advice and called them. I'm glad I did. Women has a tendency to get a great price deal in a department store such as Ann Taylor, Loft, Pier 1 import, and so on. So of course some of us will sign on for a credit card in those department store for an extra discount. I sure did and used it once and forgot about it. I was able to confirm my account and sure enough I had an outstanding balance and I opt out of paper bill so I probably delete the  email bill. Anyways, we had it resolved and he ensured me that it won't go on my credit report because it has not been 90 days.

I called the number. It is legit. Comenity Bank is an agency for certain credit cards that you might owe a balance on. Turns out I owed two late payments on a card that I thought I had paid. They were nice enough to write off the second and now my account is up to date with a zero balance. They will ask you for your last 4 digits of your SSN and your birthdate. For security purposes they do not leave phone messages with any account info just in case someone hears the message that you would not want to have the information about.
