- Steph| 3 repliesReceived a post card in the mail from a "Vehicle Warranty Division Electronic Notification Center" for a 2007 Kia, Daewoo or Hyundai (I have recently purchased a 2007 Hyundai). Card claims "important motor vehicle information" and asks that I call immediately with my current milage.
I was asked for information about the year, make and model of my vehicle and the current milage. The woman on the phone claimed there was a recall on my vehicle dealing with the electrical system and the break pedal and transferred me to their warranty department where they tried to sell me an extended "bumper to bumper" warranty of 5 years 125K miles (even though I already have a better warranty through the manufacturer).
They asked for my VIN number and I decided it was time to hang up and do a little research:
I looked on the government website for recall information after I got off the phone and there is NO recall for my year, make and model. This phone number turns up NOTHING on a Google search, no warranty company website or anything related to the dealer/manufacturer of my car. Sounds like a scam to me.- Caller: Unknown
- Call type: Unwanted
- AnnI received the same post card but it was for a Mitsubishi, Nissan or Mazda. I recently purchased a Mazda. Interesting that the card lists a number of different car companys...I didn't call and from the way your call went I don't plan to. It also sounds like a scam to me.
I would think if there was a recall, they would have your VIN number or more specific information than your name and address.- Caller: Unknown
- NASCAR BobI have a 2006 Honda and received the same IMPORTANT notice. Based on these other postings it is clear this is a bogus solicitation. Do not return the call to 1-800-724-9614, it's a scam.
- Caller: Vehicle Warranty Division
- Call type: Event reminder
- Fralent01Just received card "Important Vehicle Information" today in the mail. There is no info or Company named. If it is legit, they would have the VIN # and would advise you to go to the nearest dealer to correct any warranty recall. This is another SCAM to sell an extended warranty.
- JonHere's another one. My listed vehicle is a 2005 Jeep. I do own a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They seem to have somehow acquired a lot of lists of relatively new cars.......
- Caller: Vehicle Warranty Div., Elect. Notif. Cnt
- dakhoNo company info on the "IMPORTANT" card, says this is a Final Notice/Priority Level:High/etc. Quite annoying.
- Caller: DK

- spir530| 2 repliesI own a New Nissan, same thing Important - Final Notice, Priority Level High, Vehicle Type All, Classification Final Notice, Region National. No Company name, etc. If Nissan were recalling this vehicle I would have received a notice from my dealer or Nissan..........Must be a scam
Ask you to call 1-800-724-9614 and if experience difficulty getting through it is due to the high volume of calls.....Asks to have your mileage available.........Bogus- Caller: Unknown
- ec replies to spir530Was it a prerecorded call? If so, it was most likely an illegal. For some reason, selling bogus aftermarket car warranties is a popular telemarketing scam. And most often, these scammers use autodialers which randomly dial people at home. When you answer the call, you hear a recording warning you in dire, alarmist tones that your car's warranty is about to expire and that they mailed you a card about this matter. (Of course, the call was random and they didn't mail you anything.)
These unauthorized prerecorded telemarketing calls are specifically forbidden by the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The Federal Communications Commission enforces the TCPA and you can file a complaint online at this link: https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do It just takes a few minutes.
I was deluged with these calls earlier this summer from a scam telemarketing operation in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I reported each and every call online to the FCC, and within a few weeks, the calls stopped.
So don't let these calls alarm you. They are totally random and, if prerecorded, totally illegal. - mm| 1 replyI received a card also specifying to call 1800-724-9614. It was for my Toyota I had bought year back. I was wondering may be my warranty is not valid from manufacturer???
I googled to this web page by typing the phone number, that was great. I feel better that I had not given them a call.
How they get a hold of the vehicle you bought etc....
Not planning to call them now. - Rick replies to mmGot the same card for a 2007 Acura. I called although was very suspicious. Sure enough, it's just a scam trying to sell you an extended warranty. They claimed to be associated with Acura/Honda, although obviously this isn't so. The postcard clearly led you to believe that this was a message from the manufacturer, not some fly-by-night 3rd party. Don't bother calling...
- number13got the postcard today for "2007 Vokswagen, BMW, or Mini". glad i did my research online before wasting my time on the phone to see exactly what the scam was about.
- AmIGladISawThisI just got the card with all the bold red fonts in the mail too. I guessed it was a scam or something. I have taken my 2003 Ford Taurus in for a couple of recalls and the letter is always official and is on a Ford letterhead.
The zip code that the little stamp box mentions is 63385 (Wentzville, Missouri) and I live in Minnesota. Interestingly, two questions came to mind immediately :
1. I just had my car re-registered in MN about a month or so back. So, how'd they track it down that fast ? It's a 2003 car Leased in Virginia with VA plates, then PA plates, then MA plates, then AZ plates and finally now MN plates. I think they somehow get an info feed from the local DMV/s and they probably do a search on recently registered cars with mileages beyond a certain figure e.g. 60,000 ..... i.e. warranty most likely expired.
2. They sounded pretty desperate for me to call back .... i.e. "If you have difficulty getting through .... Keep trying or call back after 11a.m.". I mean, who would say that, unless they stand to gain something from me. A recall letter generally just asks you to call back on blah-de-blah number. Beyond that, it your headache.
Anyway, for each of the few of us who did look it up, think of the hundreds even thousands who might have called and the small but lucrative segment that must have actually bought into it. Poor chaps !!- Call type: Event reminder
- KojakYup, same here....
- Yikes!Jeez, these telemarketing folks are really good. The "No Call" registration has cut into business, so they've found an alternative approach. Except, in this case, they actually get you do make the call....
It's a miracle identity theft isn't more extensive than it is (and that's pretty infinite), given the easy access they seem to have to information (i.e., they may not have the fine print details, but it's scary that they even know what vehicle I drive and when I purchased it, etc.).... - rksgSCAM. SCAM. SCAM.
Damn. I am glad I did google... Hung up the phone 'while I was being transferred to warrenty specialist'. I asked her why in the world I should bother about extended warrenty when my current warrenty is for 5 year bumper-to-bumper. She tried to trick me into some 'let me check if you missed the deadline' and ... after a beep, she comes back and says 'sir good news'... i don't want to spend even a second more on this topic.. jeezz. - tk| 2 repliesSame card but for a 2002 Mitsubishi, Masda or Subaru. We do own a Subaru. No recall from my research and now I found this site. No intentions of calling.
- Kay replies to tk| 1 reply2006 Toyota Camry....same card, also wants "current mileage" Says it is "High Priority"....And Final Notice....I WISH!
I surmise it's an attempt to sell an extended warranty. As mentioned above there is no VIN number, but their is an Owner ID Number. - KayAnd a further Google turns up this

It's a scam and it's been around for at least two years. - Tired of mailings!!!Didn't call. No name = no call. Pontiac this time. Seeing that the post card had no GM affiliation, I figured that it was some outside entity. Thanks to this website, I am now certain of it.
- Tired of mailings!!! replies to KayYes, you are right. The "customer I.D." number is THEIR number. If you had called, you would be deeper into their system.
