My aunt was called and she said she was mentioned as a reference for me regarding a student loan.

She gave me this number:
800-766-7242
to call back.

I called them back and the phone rang for 30 minutes without anyone answering.

I looked at my student loan account and it was paid on time automatic payment a few days ago.
I called my loan company and it was after hours already.

they did have an automated operator to help find out your last payment or change contact info, etc.

numerous calls from this number- I never answer because I suspect a scam  otherwise they would send a letter not tele call.

1-800-766-7242 keeps calling my home phone. I called them back today and they started the call with "can I have your social security number?" Really???????????? Oh sure, I would just hand you my SSN!  They identified themselves as Navient. The person who answered was definitely not from the U.S. and refused to tell me what Navient did. She said she was not allowed to disclose that information.  Does that sound like a law-abiding company to you?? Just saying.... I am turning in this company to the US Attorney General's Office for Consumer Affairs and recommend that everyone does the same.

The caller may have been Navient Solutions, Inc. a loan processing company for the former Sallie Mae.  Best I can tell they are legitimate, an likely a fact finding branch, offering refinancing, collection deferments, etc. It seems many of their records are outdated and obsolete, which is no surprise considering the present amount of bureaucracy everyone is now exposed to.

This is a phishing scam.  DO NOT give them any information.  They called my father and he noticed that the caller ID said "Sally Mae".  There is a legitimate financial institution called Sallie Mae, but Sally Mae is a blues song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63pdta81jZo.

Sallie Mae told me that this number is not theirs, and they don't know anything about it.  If you are concerned that they may have a legitimate reason to contact you call them at their real number:  1 (800) 472-5543

ITS A SCAM AND I REPORTED IT

They sent me a letter that said it was about my student loan...I never even went to college.  Come to find out they claim that my ex husband used me as a reference when he co signed on a loan for HIS daughter when we were still married.  Told them I have no contact with my ex, which isnt a lie.  The guy said he'd take my name off as a reference.  We shall see.

Any mail you receive from them, write return to sender on it and take it to the post office. If they're harassing you by phone (which they're famous for), block every number they call from, and they've got a bunch. The best thing to do to them by phone is to just not answer in any way. Their customer service, as well as their entire business, is dreadful and very unorganized. As I said, avoid contact with Navient as best you can, especially if you have no business with them. If they're harassing you, they're going to try and get you to make payments for the borrower. Apparently refusing their mail and blocking their infamous phone calls erases you from existence for them.

Called and left message that I was listed as a reference and that I needed to call to verify.  Don't think so!!

This call came at work and said I was a reference on student loan.  I don't provide references for student loans or any loans for that matter. I came to the "Who's Calling Me" site and saw this number is possibly phishing for information.  I just wonder at how they got my work number?

These people call my number day and  night.

Got a message from them saying they were Navient (they called at 5am in the morning...). I called them back and they wanted to know if I knew the current address of my ex girlfriend from years ago. I told them no and they said thanks and hung up.

Had to change my phone number after repeated calls from this number. Problem solved, but I pity the person who inherits my old number.

A women called, spoke very quickly when leaving a message.  She referenced my sister n law and she asked for a call back.  She stated she was from Navient.

Navient is an abusive student loan collection agency.

This number called me at 9:18 am on Dec. 21st, 2017. Even with the volume all the way up I could not hear the beginning of the message they left on my voice mail. All I was able to hear was something about finances and some guy named Evans who wsa their client. they left a contat tel # but i could not hear it. They were whisper soft and quieter on all the areas of their messsage I could not hear other than knowing someone was talking. I have no idea if this is from Sallie Mae or ot. I have never had any dealing with Sallie Mae in my entire life nor do i know of anyone who has.

Left Message caller I.D.  "SALLY MAE" claimed I was a reference.(Debt Collectors). Here is clue to them. DON'T Make bad loans to people and then bother ME....
