- John replies to geekmedic| 14 repliesSame thing happened to me. I believe this is outright fraud and an attempt to steal your credit card numbers. Who would be asking for credit card expiration date in the first place. Answerers should extremely cautious about giving their private data over the phone. In my case, I just told the caller- a female- to suck my d%*** and she answered back by saying "I would do it if you were here, assh@@*. So you can tell that these people are engaged in pure fraud. Watch. This incident happened on May 14, 09 so that means that these fraudsters are a longstanding operation.
- Gina| 4 repliesCaller Indian accent, said he was calling to offer me a lower interest rate of 6.9% on my visa and mastercards. I asked how did he know what my rate currently was and that it wasnt already lower than that ( which it is). He couldnt answer the question. Then he fed me this bull about how I have been so good about my payments and they want to offer me a better deal? I said now, why on earth would you be calling me so you could get less money?? He couldnt anwer that either. then he said something about a $4,000 balance. He was wrong. That is not my balance.Again he keeps fishing for information. He said what is the expiration date on card, then what is the acct. no. I said on which card. he said any one. I said I thought you had access to all of that information already why do you need me to tell you the acct.#!!! I said I would call back. He said his name was Derek James ( HA HA) the 800 847-2911 was only a recording. SCAM!!!

- VE| 4 repliesI have been getting at least 2 calls a day from these people. Three times I've talked to them and told them to take me off of the list. Two people said no problem, obviously lying. The third one said that they had 40 offices and he couldn't do anything then he hung up on me. I have filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General and have put my name on the government no call list, AGAIN. I have got to the point where I let the answer machine pick up and I screen my calls.

- MicheleOn June 10, 2009, I received a call from 866-458-9617 with the pre-recording that they want to lower my interest rate. When I was connected to a live agent I asked her to verify that it was a legitimate company; that they were in fact calling as an authorized agent of Visa. The agent got annoyed and asked me how I wanted her to verify it. She said she was calling from 800-847-2911. I told her I wouldn't give her any information unless I got more verification because I thought it might be a scam. She hung up on me.
My guess is that it is indeed a scam.
What credit card company actively tries to LOWER your interest rate, anyway? - Tim replies to JohnSame basic story here.....I asked the caller for some information about her company. She said that after she gets my information to see if I qualify for low interest rates she could give me information about her company. I said I would prefer to know more about her company first.
She said, "Let me ask my boss" (then she put me on hold). You guessed it, of course rather than actually putting me on hold, the line went dead about 10 seconds later. - Scott VannatterI have been getting calls for about 3-4 weeks from "Account Services". I was never home, so they left a message. I had been working with one of my creditors over a mistake on a bill, so I thought it was them. I had already fixed the problem, so I ignored it. Today, 7/16/2009, I was watching TV when they called. The line connection was so bad, I hung up. The woman called back (she had a foreign accent) and apologized. She then asked me to verify my name, which I did, and asked me the average % of my credit cards and the total amount I owed. I did give approximations on those. Nothing else. When I asked her about her company, she told me it was "Account Services" and that I have probably heard about the government wanting to have creditor lower %, but they weren't, so that's where they came in. I told her I didn't have the credit info available, so she agreed to call back Monday. I then looked the number up and was sent here.
Has to be a scam.

- marty replies to BethI work at a car dealer and they called asking for the last credit card # ran from our machine. I declined asking for there phone and was givin this 1-800-847-2911 where asked to speak to a manager. Recieved no manager after 20 minutes on hold. Why would they believe I'd give a phone or dollar amount ran out over phone. I believe this is a big scamm.
- Matt B| 3 repliesThis is a scam, but the company is based in the US and if you are on the National Do Not Call they are supposed to NOT call you. If you do speak to them get the agent name, confirm the phone number and report to the FCC so they start getting pounded with fines. Only way to get rid of these scammers.

- Gerald ButlerI received a prescreening call and was asked to press 1 if I wanted to lower my credit card rates. An agent came on the line, introduced himself as Daniel representing Credit Card Services. He said he could lower the rate on all of my credit cards to 6.9% if I acted within the next 24 hours. He then asked me if I had more than 3000 in credit card debt and then asked me for my credit card numbers. Visa and Mastercard only. I asked him how I know he is legit. He said he is and went into a long spiel about how the credit card companies are losing customers due to cancellations because of high interest rates and his company is trying to prevent that by signing up people for lower rates. I asked for their number. He gave me this number (1-800-847-2911)extention 242 and told me to call him back within 24 hours. I googled the number and here I am. If this company is who they say they are they would know my credit card numbers already.

- Skeptik| 1 replyI received a call from # (515)369-5636. The caller was a female who said she was from Visa and MasterCard Client Services. She told me I had been pre-approved for a lower interest rate on all of my Visa and Mastercard accounts. She asked about balances owed and which card I was in best standing with. I told her the bank name of the card and she insisted on me giving her the card information. I asked her for her name and number. She said her name was Jessica White and offered her license # TP1979-85. The number she gave me was the 1-800-847-2911. When I was explaining why I wouldn't give my card info out, she just hung up. I tried to call the caller id # and it is busy. I beleive if you give your card to the 1-800 automated number, they will get your card info from that. This is a very convincing scam. I hope it gets shutdown soon.

- NO credit card WANTS to lower ratesI recieved a call to lower my interest rates pressed 9 and was connected to a live rep. I was very leary considering the caller id # came up 571-261-0012. Got a lot of fast babble and onto what is your current rate, how is your standing from 1-10 ... verification of name and Phone #, what type of card-visa or mastercard. When I asked for more information on the company he tried to assure me with a licence # of TP0125 and the rewards of a possible 0% interest rate. I asked for a # I could call back after I checked his info. He used an urgent voice to explain that if I called back I would not be able to be transferred to his department. He then asked the (jack pot) question: Please verify your credit card #... "You Betcha buddy!"

- JHGot a recorded call and it told me to hold until I was connected with an agent. The agent came on line and started asking for our credit card numbers...he wanted to lower our rates. Once we gave the first card number I started wondering if this was even a real company. He told me the company name was "Financial Freedom". Then when I asked for a phone number to call him back at he didn't want to give it to me, but finally gave me 1-800-847-2911. He started asking why we were skeptical, needless to say we hung up and cancelled the card that we gave him.

- Val replies to SkeptikI also recieved almost this same call. I talked to Jessica White, recieved the same license # and was asked for all my credit card information. They had the last four digits of my social and my address though. I am floored that they continue to feed on people! I agree, I hope they get shut down, better yet arrested!
- pmI received a call from this number telling me they would lower my interest rate on credit cards to 6.99%. I asked them what their address was and they said their supervisor would have to give it to me after they finished getting my information. They only told me they were in Texas. Obviously a fraud.
They also called using phone number 702/705-5032.- Caller: Client Services
- yeahrightGot a call from "Matt Connors" with a middle eastern accent saying I he worked for VISA and could get a rate as low as 2.9% from a bank. He wanted to know if my rate was over 12%. I said no. He wanted to know my balance and I refused, saying I don't know who you are. I asked for phone # and was given this one. Asked for website and was told a supervisor would verify things. He was shocked that I thought he might be a scammer. Finally just hung up on "Matt".
The number he called from was 773-000-0001 which is a fax # when I called it.- Caller: unknown

- Rosanne in TNI received have been receiving the same type of calls for the past SIX MONTHS and just filed my complaint with the FCC. I too received a prerecorded message from "Visa and MasterCard Customer Assistance Center" which told me to press 6 to consolidate credit card debt and lower my APR. When I pressed 6, I was connected to a live agent. She introduced herself and asked if I had more than $4,000 in credit card debt. When i said no, take me off your call list. I've been on the no call list since 2005, she hung up.

- NO MORE TELEMARKETERS replies to geekmedicgot off the phone too--
I told them to stop calling--
and then immediately contacted the state attorney generals office with the information, my phone number, time & date, people I spoke to, etc.
and when I told the supervisor that I did not want any more calls from them, and that I was going to forward the information to the attorney generals' office, her only reply was
"good thing I didnt give you the REAL number"
lol. - MalcolmY replies to geekmedicEw! You backed down. Stand up for yourself. These people lied to you saying they were Visa. Report them to Visa.com and they will get in enormous trouble- finces & perhaps jail.
- Sunnie| 4 repliesI got a call from 916-219-8137 and asked them for a number that I could call them back on. The guy asked why and I said that I was going to turn them in to the attorney general. He said "you don't want to do that, we are here to help you, you have a high intrest rate on your credit card and that's a fact!" I said "well not really since my credit card account is closed." He hung up and I called the 800-347-2911 number that he gave me. I got a guy who said "Discover, how can I help you?" I asked if this was really discover and he assured me that it was. I then asked why a third party would be calling me to lower my credit rate since my account is closed. He said "I see that" I asked how did he see that since I did not tell him who I am or give my account number? He said "well you still want to lower your intrest rate don't you?" I said no and hung up! I called Discover and they think that because it is a 800-347-number it is ligit! They don't even know either.

- kill devil hillsa sweet young lady spoke on a pre recorded message saying I had earned a reduction in my creditcards interests...That they were affliliated with 551 banks and Visa and Mastercard..WHAT A SCAM .They are looking for you to give them your card numbers to verify that you are in good credit standing and have made your payments in the last 6 months.....I spoke to their supervisor because they could not give me an answer to how they make their money representing me. A man by the name of Christian Banks (OMG No kidding!) spooke to me then and said that they get their money from the interest and finance charges tat i save.....LOL....at no cost to me they could negotiate on my behalf to get my rates lowered by claiming that on Feb 1 when the companies plan to accelerate interest rates on all their clients..... He said the reason they can do this and not me is that when I call the credit card companies, they will not do it for one person but they represent many people and with the numbers they have that really make them negotiate with them... These guys are pretty good....... he said his company was called Credit Relief and that they had been doing this awhile He had worked for them for 6 years but had gotten promoted overr time he got paid by the hour not by the job....etc....even though his boss is on salary. He said he worked for them for 6 years and that he was from Pittsburgh.
