- mj replies to Scottdoes snow affect reading on meters? unless they're buried in snow? I thought it was all electronic and techno wizardry. I had a call on my cell# (only 3 people have this, and Xcel is not one of them). You may have had a legit call, but I suspect phone spoofing.
- DAC replies to ----Called me 3 times in 10 minutes. Turns out it was Xcel Energy about a pipeline emergency near my home and providing some useful info about who and what would be happening to my gas service as a winter storm approaches. I wish they would provide a caller ID name.
- Nonya Bidnessxcel energy scam. they call and never leave a voicemail but it is not really xcel energy. call xcel customer service directly if you have concerns. also, xcel will never ask you for a prepaid card to cover you bill.

- GenrihCalled my business today to inform me of a pending disconnection due to nonpayment. I asked him to confirm my account number, he, of course, could not. I informed him very graphically where to go and what to do there. They spoofed a valid xcel number. Heavy Indian or Pakistani accent. Be careful

- Lauren SchaefferI got a phone call from this number, the woman claiming to be a representative of XcelEnergy also claiming htat I was going to have my service disconnected due to delinquent payments. I knew this was fraudulent because the business name she used has been out of busies for many years. I asked for an address she gave me a fake one, and then told me several time to call 1-800-393-3980 to make an immediate payment so that service doesn't get disconnected.

- Kathy from ColoradoThe number on caller ID is actually the Xcel phone number.
So I received a call two days in a row. First call they left a message"That I must call before midnight tonight, or my service will be turned off". Second call they did not leave a message. I called Xcel and they had no record of anyone calling. She said from previous calls the caller is hoping you make a payment with them (now they have your credit/debit card number). Best thing to do is tell them you don't have time and that you will call back or call before authorizing any payments.- Caller: Xcel

- MengyuThis is an official Xcel Energy customer service number, however it is possible that scammers could fake their number as this. I received a call from this number regarding billing, yet I have not been use Xcel energy since over two years ago. I called back and was told that my phone number is not associated with any account at this moment and the call I received earlier could be a scam. So, be aware of this and be alerted
