FORGED CALLER ID. Yes, this is Xcel's number but someone is spoofing it.
I just got a call to my business line saying it was XCel and my account was past due and going to be disconnected in 30 minutes if I don't call 1-866-305-4407 and make a payment. It was a recorded call and the callerid was spoofed to the actual xcel customer service number. I called xcel just to make sure and my balance was fine and not due for another month. I then alerted a cust service rep for xcel and he told me yes, it was a scam.

i was left a voicemail from this number 800-895-4999 and told to call back 800-517-4620 to avoid a disconnect.  when i called back the 517 number i was told my payments were delinquent and my xcel electric service would be shut off.  they also told me i had been sent 2 shutoff notices.  when i asked for more info, we got disconnected. i saw on line that all my payments were up to date so i called back the 517# and asked for a superviser. we were again "disconnected".  i called the actual xcel number #895 and was told they NEVER call about shut-offs for delinquency, that my acct was up to date and that their correct number was spoofed.  now the spoofers have blocked my number somehow so that i cannot get thru to cuss them out.  the 517 # was a scam and they spoofed the actual xcel # of 895.

Unsolicited unknown number came up on my phone as unknown under caller ID.  I didn’t answer it they didn’t leave a voicemail I want 800 notes read these other responses and I don’t even live anywhere near where this so-called energy company is located!  I suspect a robot dialer calling around and trying to do scam calls! Some people think they might be legitimate I say I don’t do business with this company and they don’t leave voicemails! Beware!

Person (robo-voice) tells me they're about to turn my power off.  But my monthly billing e-mail tells me "Thank you for your payment."  Zero balance.

I'm not sure that was the number that came up when the call came in, but it is the number that now appears in my "Recent Calls" on my phone, by the time I got around to looking it up.

This scammer purported to be from Xcel Energy.

A scammer is spoofing Xcel Energy's Customer Service number in an attempt to extort immediate payment for a fictional past due bill or to allege a service disconnect order. Xcel is aware of this & it is explained when you call 800-895-4999 & press #1.

Caller from this number left a very long voicemail message, which was distorted gibberish. I called Xcel; and the rep said he is 99% certain this was a scam spoofing their phone number.

I seem to have gotten a legit call from xcel. Message left (I don't answer 800 number calls) "They will be inspecting power poles and lines in my area using small drones with cameras. Go to xcel website for more info."

I just got this same call today from the spoofed Xcel customer service number, in which a pre-recorded message said something like "your service will be cut off in the next 30-40 minutes due to a billing problem.  Please press 1 to speak with a customer service representative".

Caller ID said Xcel Energy, a local power company. It was an automated message saying my power was going to be shut off in the next 45 minutes if I didn't press 1 for a live agent to discuss payment options. I knew immediately it was a scam because 1) it was the wrong number for Xcel, 2) it was automated, and power companies do NOT notify you 45 minutes before shutoff by automated call, 3) I've never been late on a payment to Xcel, and in fact I have text and email confirmation of my last payment on the 22nd, which wasn't due until today, and 4) all power companies have to send written notice of late payment and give you quite a bit of time before shutting you off. In any event, don't answer calls from this number even if it's identified as Xcel, and if you do, DON'T press 1 for a live agent. You'll either part with money or you'll get a nasty malware infection on your device.

Don't blacklist this innocent company just because their name was spoofed by scammers. Blame the scammers for being thieves. Xcel is an innocent victim here.
