Recorded message claiming to be from Verizon wireless saying you were selected for a $40 credit on your next bill. Called my line & I ignored the call. Immediately after they called my husband's line. He answered, but hung up about halfway through the message. Between what he listened to &what was left on my voicemail we got the entire message. Since we haven't had Verizon since 2010 (only had them  a little over a year from the time they took over Altel to the time our contract ended) I'm pretty sure it was not actually Verizon & it was an attempt at a scam.

I just got a call from 800-922-0204, automated message (voice was female), stating Verizon has credited me $44 to my account, and I am not a Verizon wireless customer.  This is indeed a scam.  Don't even bother to visit 44verizon dot com.

Now isn't that nice?  A credit from Verizon, on my US Cellular phone.  They MUST be desperate if they're willing to now pay my bill when I'm on another carrier.

These calls are scammers! I recently switched from Verizon to a different carrier.  I got a call from this number claiming that I was owed a $44 credit from Verizon, and all I had to is go to www.verizon44.com to claim my "refund" and "verify" my information. I got into an ugly billing dispute with Verizon, and know it is resolved and Verixon most definitely does not owe me any money. Additionally, if any utility company owes you money, this will cut you a check, not require you to fill out information. I did not go to the site but did some research.
The domain verizon44.com was just registered on 2/6/14 in Spain. These criminals are obviously trying to phish your information with the false pretense of being Verizon. The 800# is legit for Verizon, but as others stated, it is being spoofed. The bottom line is that YOU have to be a smart, informed consumer and be vigilent to not fall for this crap. Any legit company will never call you asking for personal information, as they will already have it. The only way we can stop this garbage is the close the door on the opportunity for it to work. Be smart, be safe folks.

Sooooooooo totally irritated with the spammer/fake/BS calls.   Blocking this number on my cell.       Just as previously stated do not do anything that they have requested you to do in the phone call.   NEVER give out personal info over the phone.  If this was a true Verizon call and you are their customer..........they have ALL of your info.

    TOTAL SCAM!!!

This toll free number was the caller ID associated with an automated, prerecorded message played instructing me to visit Verizon44.com to claim my $44 as if perhaps it was an overpayment that was due to be returned to me. The audio quality was horrible.  Bad, bad signal to noise ratio and definitely NOT a trained voice talent speaking.

I haven't bothered to try the web site as I'm confident that at minimum, it will ask for personal information I have no intention of giving.  At worst, i suspect it will dump malware onto my computer while I go there.

Note that i am not even a Verizon subscriber.  Yeah. It's most definitely and obviously a Phishing scam.

    Tired of spammers and hackers
Just received a call, actually twice. Didn't recognize the number so I didn't answer and figured they would leave a message if at all important. But within a minute again the same number called but only let it ring twice. I'm going to block it.

I received the a call from this # at 2:50am. That's the first clue something was wrong. My voicemail msg of course also picked up mid msg, second clue. This time the msg said to go to verizon44.com to get my $44 discount "b/c they care." Sure. I always check out unknown #'s here and of course it's not legit.
