- Poncho&LeftyYeah, I get that "Person" calling me all the time, but I'm 13 and don't have a credit card or anything, and the phone I have is MINE, like no one's ever used it or anything. I don't know who it is and I've never answered the phone when they call because it's a 1-800 number.

- ladiThese DEBT collectors use places on the internet like INTELLUS reports an people that aren't even your relatives are listed as being relatives or associated with your name as siblings so they begin calling and harassing you as a result. The BEST thing to do is GOOGLE your own name and find those places an then REMOVE your information or do a CORRECTION to the information that is listed there.
They call and insist that these people are your family even when they aren't related in any fashion.
Then when you finally get a human on the other end of the computer generated call they act as if YOU initiated the call to them and they continue to harass you.
The BEST thing to do is keep a LOG of the dates, times an people you spoke with there an a brief description of what you informed them up an the person's name you spoke with there. Then you file a formal complaint against the company with the federal trade commission. Or better yet.... tell them the call is being recorded an then actually record the conversation.- Caller: Allied

- Power of the PeopleI called Brighthouse to block them from calling me, they call 5 to 6 times a day, up to 9:00 pm, Brighthouse is working on the ability to block numbers (she said give them about 3 months for the service to be active). She suggested that I contact the FTC and file a complaint. Here is the web address:

Good luck.. and file a complaint to take these [***] down.- Caller: Allied Interstate

To those of you who get calls on your cell phone, i learned this trick. when filling out paperwork for doctors, credit cards, or anything that creates a possible debt, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CELL NUMBER!!!!! by giving them this number, you give them permission to contact you. duh!allied

- RandallMultiple calls from this number. Never leaves voice mail, but always calls during normal business hours when many people are not at home, but instead at work.
Based on comments I'm reading here, it's probably a collection agency calling, and they want to talk to the people who previously had my home phone number.- Call type: Debt collector
- aaThis phone number called me 1-800-955-3103 said Allied Insurance and that they are a bill collector. Not looking for me but very rude, my number is on the do not call list and to remove me quickly or I would contact an attorney. His response is this call is being recorded. I don't care that is being recorded your not even calling for me! I think this is a scam and anyone that calls and they do have your name, I wouldn't give them any information besides my name until they could provide proof of why they are calling.

- T. IngleI have just started getting these calls this past month. How annoying! Every time I answer the phone in an attempt to find out who it is...they hang up! GRRRRR. I do feel better knowing it isn't important lol. (And that I am not alone in getting these annoying calls) but how do I get them to go away??? I use magic jack which is a VOIP set-up. Any help would be appreciated.
- JeffWell...they answered the phone and I gave them an ear full. They hung up on me and I called back with even more to burn their ears with. I said I was recording the conversation, asked for the supervisor and gave him an ear full also and said don't call me again. So far no calls. It was everyday.

- SmarterThanTheAverageBearI received a call from them today. They are a collection company. They called me on behalf of Direct Energy. They were attempting to collect on a debt that was old and included in a bankruptcy. This is the third time I have received a call from them. I know my rights and know that it is not a collectible debt. She attempted to try and set up a payment plan. I let her know that I too was recording the call and that I would be making a formal complaint to the bankruptcy court against them and their practices. I have provided their information to my attorney.
She tried to imply that I was a deadbeat for filing bankruptcy. I told her I would gladly pay the debt if she in turn would take my breast cancer! She didn't say anything else.- Caller: Allied
