- B-Edwards replies to BigA| 6 repliesBut then we are back worse than where we started - the beavers have a dam and club house, the gators are back and we are missing the turtles that the gators ate up. Plus now we have hogs and and the same snakes (You remember the snakes, right?) and the HOA is about to have a come-apart over the noise of the dynamite. This proves that the environment is one thing and nature is another.
If Miss Allie checks back in, I am not sure we helped much with this phone number but I think we got some ideas on improving property. I am sure we could come up with something for the rich guy and his brush pile and garbage tossing. - BigA replies to B-Edwards| 5 repliesThe rich guy is no problem. Nothing a carelessly tossed cigarette on a very dry windy day wouldn't take care of. :) Come to think of it that may be the answer to hay pile/snake guy as well? Maybe we could substitute some corpse eating turtles? They might be able to hold their own against the 'gators!
- Allie replies to BigA| 4 repliesThis is most amusing. Really.
I don't mind the snakes, as they eat the rodents in the tall grass. It's the 9 mm discharged 20 ft from my kitchen window that worries me. In city limits. With bad aim.
As for gators and wild hogs, they are not very tractable, though admittedly they are tasty.
None of this started off as insanity inducing. It's more accretion of all the pieces. The folks beyond the privacy fence hate the heavy, thick canopy of vines dipping into their yard, but we have no control over those. Still, we schlep home after work and find that we must collect 2 bags of garbage before we mow yet again. The guy who owns the property with the vine-festooned tree is also the non-mowing guy who freaks out if we don't mow every week but then freaks out if he thinks we mowed 6 inches over the line and freaks out over...everything...
Now, as to the phone harassment, it's worrisome. I've been getting a lot of these. It is sometimes hard to tell if it's marginally legit company that has confused me with a crazy distant cousin who bounces checks, and these marginally legit collections agencies only want SOMEONE to pay up. I was relieved to find that others had posted about it not even being legit. - Kat* replies to Allie| 3 repliesHave you called the police on this guy?! He shouldn't be discharging a firearm within city limits, ESPECIALLY so close to someone's home.
- Allie replies to Kat*| 2 repliesUnfortunately, he IS Law Enforcement.
And we found out about it later, as he was preening about having shot a snake in the yard. - Kat* replies to Allie| 1 replyThat doesn't mean he shouldn't be reported!
- Allie replies to Kat*I believe that, technically, he is allowed to have his service weapon when he is off duty and use it when there is imminent danger, which is far too often a matter of personal perception. He didn't even know what kind of snake it was or why it was there.
But I digress.
I am grateful for forums like this in which we discuss what really is going on with all these weird phone calls and what real, legit collections agents can and cannot do. I was less well informed a few decades ago when someone stole two checks out of the middle of my checkbook. - Bella replies to Jamie flyteI just got the same vm
