Scam. It is not a Wells Fargo number. Wells fargo leaves a message if it's real. I recommend calling the main Wells Fargo to double check if you have an outstanding balance or fee. Do not handle through this other number

The number and/or name that appears on your phone display can be spoofed by scammers and thieves.  It doesn't matter who the number actually belongs to.  Don't give any personal information to anybody that calls you.  If they claim to be Wells Fargo (or any other company) tell them, "Have a nice day" and hang up.  Never argue or otherwise acknowledge the existence of your business relationship with any entity.
Only call your bank or other institution at the phone number printed on your regular monthly bill.

It's funny that the top ten Google results for "800-988-8019" are all websites like or trying to be like 800notes.com. Wells Fargo should do a better job of publishing "their" numbers.

Whatever called me today, did not wait for me to answer and did not leave a voice mail.

Just got a call from 800-988-8906. It was a voice recording and said I was going to have a warrant issued for my arrest for money laundering. I laughed! They needed to verify some info. Asked me my address. I said you should have that. He said, if I didn't verify it he was going to send the FBI to my house. I replied, you say it and ill tell you  if its correct. He said, fine The FBI are on their way Mr. Tony. Oddly enough he did know my 1st name, but regardless, I said Ill be waiting for the police at my front door. He hung up.  Its a Scam dude was from Philippines or some where like that.

This is in FACT A SCAM!
    This is NOT Wells Fargo!
And anyone in this posting claiming that it is is probably part of the scam and more than likely watch this website to post that it’s not...
Or have none of you thought of that?
This same number called me about 4 different things WF,IRS,FBI and that stupid expired car warranty scam also...
If you did give them your info then you’re the moron and fell for a scam so it’s your own fault...
Don’t respond to anything by phone as there’s plenty of local WF branches that you can walk into and they will tell you the same thing about this number...
They claimed that my WF credit card was past due I laughed and told them that I don’t even have a WF CC and they hung up 🤔...

Wells Fargo are crooks. They do not abide by their "contracts", fail to provide accurate statements, including online. Send multiple letters practically daily stating different amounts and account is in good standing. Lord have mercy!
Had several accounts with them. They refused to fix a debit made for wrong amount. Company who made error pulls info off website so I couldn't provide proof. Months to get an accounting. By that time WF added hundreds in fees. I had family member go to my branch and deposit cash into other account to pay fees while waiting for proof error was made. They didn't post those funds so I couldn't pay the fees and they closed my accounts. They still owe me money! They took more than I owed! Probably added more fees to claim it all. I have no way of knowing. I heard all kinds of bad stories about them, was glad it wasn't me, until it was.  Give them time. No honor or integrity with this company. I don't care how pleasant they speak to you. Liars!

I do not owe this company money, they wanted to offer me a low-interest loan to pay off debt they think I have. They send me 2 pieces of mail a week stating I'm going to be late on minimum balances, and I will be fined. But I do not owe them any money, it is spam.

I got an email, a text, and a letter with this phone number listed talking about a credit card I don't have. I called my Wells Fargo bank - twice - and talked to their legit national customer service line both times. They've assured me that 1) This number is not theirs, 2) The email that sent it is not theirs, 3) The websites they listed are not theirs, & 4) I *DO NOT HAVE* a credit card with them or any "missed payments". Per their request, all correspondence sent to me have been submitted to Wells Fargo's fraud department for investigation.

I have confirmed with Wells Fargo that this is NOT legit. They have no association with either this phone number or the fake website they keep texting to me. I do not own a Wells Fargo credit card and there are no late payments or other issues related to my account. This is a SCAM.

I called Wells Fargo from the number on back of my card and they confirmed it sound like a scam I was not late nor have I ever been late. When I call Wells Fargo it identifies my number and ask for last 4 of card this number ask for the complete 16digits I would say scam because Wells Fargo doesn’t show any contact from me today now it’s possible they using the same number as Wells Fargo so it can be confusing.

I got the same thing, only mine was a text. I’m going to contact the bank tomorrow to see if it’s a scam, which I suspect it is. My WFB card is current, paid ahead as a matter of fact, so this sounds fishy. The text started with “are you ok?” And I find that to be strange, coming from a bank. It also said they were a debt collector, attempting to collect a debt. Since I’m not behind, a debt collector shouldn’t be calling or texting. I’ll find out!
