Called the number back and was told it was a collection company called Spectrum.  The lady said it had to do with adult entertainment and that charges had been declined and she wanted a new credit card number.  She was extremely rude and abnoxious.  When threatened with harrassment charges, they hung up.

That's some disturbing scam. I am reporting it.

A female called asking, What are we gonna do? The amount of $137.00 does not clear from the credit card.
    I asked, What card?
She said something like, The one you used for adult phone line.
I never did anything like this. I hang up.

She called back saying, Listen, listen to this. I hang up.

They called our son's and our phone informing us we had an outstanding credit card balance from 2007 and that they finally found us.   They stated it was a combination of 3 credit cards.    We do not have 3 credit cards at all.   We are not calling them back.  The man said he was from Spectrum Billing agency.  Said his name was Mr. Rubiola and to call his office back.  BEWARE!

OK I just got a call at home from these "people".  Hung up on it once.  And then they called back from a different number a minute later. And this guy was trying to pull a scam saying that I (He was thinking I was my brother this whole time) and that I had used my mother's credit card to to call an adult phone number. And that she was filling for credit card fraud.

Now... How I know this is a scam.  My mother cut up all her credit cards YEARS ago.

And then he listed a bunch of people he could call. People like my Brother's ex wife and in laws and then people I've never even heard of.

And even played me the beginning part of a phone call. That was just some girl talking in a sexy voice saying her name and asking my brother his name and then he said his. and that was suppose to be proof of a phone call to an adult phone line I believe.

So afterword I asked if that sounded like me, (me and my brother have VERY different voices) and he goes "I think it sounds exactly like you" in a kind of sinister way that I laughed.

And then I informed him that I was recording the call. And he started getting ALL Irate and yelling about how "He is gonna mark this down for follow up"  and I told him that I was looking up his company's phone number on google and said "Well surprise surprise your phone number is connected to a bunch of scam reports on multiple page listings."  That got him good :)

And then he was trying to argue something like "You do know the difference between audio and visual" and I told him I was looking it up on my computer screen and saying "You see.  A computer has a 'Visual' screen where I perceive visual images through my eyes"  Like he had no idea people could use a phone and computer at the same time haha.

SO... yes I called back and some company called "spectrum" like the rest here. and says it's a debt collection agency and that you could even pay by their website or by phone... I didn't write down the website.  sorry.

But YES it is a complete SCAM.  So anyone wondering.. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY MONEY OR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBERS OR CHECKING ACCOUNT DETAILS OR YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER!

I can't stress that enough.  And from what I've seen online they've been doing this for awhile now.  So just be careful everyone.

Called me saying there was an issue with my son's checking account, but wouldnt discuss it with me.  Then got a letter saying the "check by phone draft" was returned unpaid, and he owes $198.00 plus returned check fee.  No where did the letter state what the "debt" was for.

I legally changed my first and middle names 7 years ago. So imagine my surprise when I received a message tonight on my cell phone from Cindy, asking for me by my old name. She asked me to call back in regards to a "reference number". You can bet your sweet ### that I will not be returning that call. I have no debts under that name. None at all. So, I have sent this number to my reject list. In addition, the call back number she gave me was 800-616-7833.

Our company had the same thing happen but we have no idea what calls the woman was talking about and was asking for a name of a person that never worked for us. Now the best part was she said they have a recording of a phone call I asked what phone call she said a sex chat from 5 months ago, I told her I am not interested in hearing a sex recording then she got rude and said she will continue her " investigation " and call and play her so called recording until someone will know who the voice belongs to and hung up :-).... Best part is we have so many people answering our phones. Do we have a way to legally go after these guys if they dare to do that. I mean who knows what they might play or is it another way they try to scam you ? (we get scam calls all day here), I just don't need my workers time being bothered with this bull. If anyone knows how I can get the real information on these animals I will take it to a legal matter but until then I guess look for these scammers and pay attention to what they say.

I got the exact same call - same phone number on caller ID, message left by Cindy, left a reference number, said it was urgent that I call back, same call back number 1-800-616-7833. I owe nothing to anyone, so I am not calling back, although I am tempted to just to tell her off after reading all these comments on here.

Spectrum called.  The guy is very "rough" sounding.  Meant to be an intimidation factor I suppose.  I figure that this level of fear mongering is to be expected when the callers are working in the pay per smut industry and the accounts in question are from guys and gals delinquent on their [***] bills.

Sorry for the crassness of this post, but this is what it is about.  I didn't make any calls or use services from Spectrum.  They can take a hike.

I got a call from a Mr. Rubio trying to solicit funds for a "phone sex call" from several years ago. He is a low life crook with no actual skills to earn an honest living. So disregard him and his silly little company. Don't send these scammers any money.
