- Ralphyes, its ebay. this is just part of their 'new' business model. they make things way more difficult and also try to make themselves way more money. don't waste your time talking to them.
its funny... just like any other greedy corporation... when YOU NEED THEM you talk to someone in India. WHEN THEY NEED YOU they call you from the US
BTW the new ebay fees are 13.5% and paypal will not release your funds until 3 days after delivery. in fact, they might just hold it indefinitely and not give it back. see PAYPALSUCKS.COM
good luck my friends, and remember to try craigslist first.- Caller: ebay
- Call type: Telemarketer
- charles replies to jimI sell on eBay and receive a call from this number weekly it is a good number. they follow up on sales and sellers
- charlie replies to Kateplease you are paranoid. I receive calls from this number weekly and it is eBay
- KreationsByKat replies to Uncas| 3 repliesI agree. I've been selling on EBay since 2003 and I periodically receive calls from eBayto let me know about new features or ways to save money on my listings. Just received one today and the call left a very polite message with no request for a return call.
- jimmy no matesYeh, it is from Ebay, they call me all the time. I'm a powerseller.
- Oobatz replies to june grechikaActually, that's not true. It's true if you have little to no volume of sales. Ebay wouldn't waste their time and call a person who sells less than $1000 annually. When I hardly sold anything, I got this call once or twice a year. WHen my sales went to $250/month, I got it once a month. Now that I sell over $30,000 year, I get this call weekly.
If you notice, lately it is hard to contact eBay directly especially if you're not a powerseller, thru email. They have reduced their customer reps who answer emails to. If you're not a powerseller, you have to wait in long lines to get to a live person, and most ebayers can't wait 60-120 minutes to have a simple answer to a basic question.
The explaination I was given from my powerseller rep (who also confirms this is a legit number and call) is that more than 90% of the issues and questions being sent it, the answers could be found in under 5 minutes of research using the Ebay Help system. Sadly, unless you do a lot of volume in your sales, they make it hard to contact someone to help you.
It is an Ebay call center in Utah. I maynot be listed under "eBay" as the owner of the number, but by a company that eBay contracts to make calls on their behalf. If you call HP support on the 800 number, your call isnt sent to anywhere near their HQ. It used to send you to Canada 6 years ago. Now most likely your call will be "Tom from Kansas City", but with a disctinct Indian accent. It's a US number, but the call center is in India, so the actual location of hte call center is moot. Have a MN phone number, but It's only takes 1 phonecall to get the calls forwarded to any number outside MN. the location of the area code on the number is worthless info.
Ebay's policy is not to hand out phone numbers to it's customers, unless it's absolutely needed, and then only for certain issues.
It's always the best advice to not answer a phone call if you don't know where it's from, but then again, you can always hang up. - Cristina replies to jimCorrect...I am a power seller and I get a few calls from Ebay a year. They never ask for any private information. They are just reaching out via a different method in order to get their information/promotions out.
- JoeMomma| 1 replyIt comes up on caller ID as DRAPER UT. I don't care if it is ebay they can contact you by e-mail. I don't know who DRAPER UT is. Wait for someone to answer then tape receiver on the counter. OUCH find a different way Ebay. You call at the most inconvience time anyway.
- Caller: Draper UT
- JoeMomma replies to JoeMommaOoops thats TAP the phone!!
- TA telemarketing call from E-Bay. Giving me info on how I may icrease my sales on E-Bay.
- Caller: EBay
- Call type: Telemarketer
- CindyLEGIT call. It's an eBay call center telling you how to increase your sales, etc... I HATE THESE!! I stopped selling because eBay treated me like CRAP & now they are harassing me to sell more??? GRRRR!!
- Caller: eBay
- KenIt's legit. They call me from time to time. They never ask for any sensitive information (and I wouldn't give it if they did.) Just today a woman named Karen called to let me know how I could increase sales. I was bored, so I listened. She didn't ask for anything.
- TS| 1 replyThat number/call is total Bull-[***]!
I Just spent 10 minutes on the phone with eBay. They will not call you. And, of course, any emails you receive from them can be validated by logging into you account and checking your messages... - TS replies to TSO.K. It's a division of eBay, but the support people know absolutely nothing about it...
- JimiI just got a call and it was from eBay. Automated call but it sounded legit. I was late shipping an item I sold and the buyer started initiated a clame so I started getting contacted by them. So it sounds to me like this is a legit call and it is eBay.
- Call type: Event reminder
- tWell, i am not a seller and started getting these calls. I refused to answer and they said they would email me, but never have. So I contacted ebay, and they said that is not a number associated with EBAY and they would take it from there.
- Call type: Survey
- DUH replies to jimYes they do. They call if there's a problem or if there's a promotion, or a new policy that you need to know about. Dimwit.
- Pam15 minutes after i created my Ebay account, i got a call from this number, asking me what i was selling and they asked me my username and password which anyone affiliated with Ebay will not do...thats how i know it was a scam.....i did not give them my PW or username, then the guy said he really didnt need it anyway. that it was no big deal....

- Joannie replies to Kate| 2 repliesThe number 801-545-1800 is not an ebay number, this was verified by ebay as a scam number and anyone who gets called by this number should report it to www.donotcall.gov immediately.
- Joannie replies to Joannie| 1 replyAnyone who says this number is ebay works for that scam...
