- jerryI think X and J are part of the scam. Why else would they make so many posts over such a long time. Just scan through the posts there are probably more than a hundred from the same people.

- billPeople, you have to realize something. Whether it's really from ebay or not, remember that ebay has never had its act together, even after 17 years of being in business. They are a prime example of one hand not knowing what the other hand is doing.
- Caller: ebay
- R. YochThis number is an ebay telemarketer - left a message about my fund availability and went on about using their shipping labels.
I don't pick up the phone for this number - if it happens again I will block them - I have my phone preferences set to off and ebay needs to respect that.- Caller: Ebay
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ebay since 2000 replies to jimYou are wrong. ebay does make self promoting calls.
- MyCastle| 1 replyGot a call from this phone number~801-545-1800 at 7:31 PM. No one left a message and even if they did, I would not have listened to it. I don't answer calls from numbers that I don't know.
- Caller: not sure but some say it's a scam EBay number
- TimothyIt is definitely eBay Customer Service as other have said. They wanted to make sure I was aware a claim had been filed and to provide details on the case. They never asked for anything and only gave me information about the case. I got off the phone with them moments ago after missing their call last night. They will call you a few times a day if you don't answer. As soon as you answer and explain you have already issued a response to the case they ask if you have any other questions, would like an email containing more information, and direct you to the eBay website.
If you don't want them to keep calling just pick up. Takes maybe 5 minutes at most, less if you tell them right at the start that you have already responded to the claim. Otherwise they will continue to try to reach you at different times of the day until a decision has been made in the case.- Caller: eBay

- Tim replies to MyCastleThey won't leave a message. It's all done by machine, if you don't pick up it will connect the customer service representative with another line to try.
I usually don't answer calls either, but this one is eBay Customer Service. - wiredgirlThese guys called me twice today and I didn't pick up since I didn't recognize the number. Neither time did they leave a message. If there was a legitimate problem with my account, or they wanted to sell something to me, they would have left a message.
- Caller: unknown
- chuckEbay added some BS about allowing telemarketers to contact from the number on your account. You have to uncheck the box in the communication preferences section, promotions and surveys. The default on your account is to allow these [***] to call you.
I have gotten several calls from this number. - BreeNo idea about this number. Called me today, I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I do use ebay but I don't and never have sold anything there. There's no reason for them to call me.
- matt| 1 replyI've been on Ebay for over ten years, as a top rated seller and power seller; but I've never gotten a call from Ebay until this week. They didn't leave a message so I can't say if it's valid or not. Some people here insist the calls are legit while others are claiming it's a phishing attempt. Both claims may be true. I won't post the link, but there is a website a person can use to spoof a phone number. I could, for example, call you from my home phone and the number that shows up on your Caller ID is the number Ebay uses. I could even use your number if I knew it and how confused would you be if you got a call from...yourself?! LOL Just saying, some scammers are probably doing this so beware. If Ebay has something important to share with me then they can let me know via the message center in my Ebay account.
- Richard T replies to Fraud Alert| 3 repliesParanoid!
eBay does call its sellers.
They call me several times a year to help me improve my eBay sales. - Linda BensonI received a strange call from "Heather" posing as an Ebay telemarketer. I ended the converssation abruptly, so I'm so sure what she was calling about. I feel the call was some sort of scam.

- CorinneI just called Ebay, at their phone number that I got from the Ebay website, 866-907-3229, and asked them about this number. She said, YES, it is their outgoing number to call people. With the holidays, they are making calls to members. So, YES, this is a legit number. I hope this helps people out. Always, if in doubt, go directly to the source and ask them.
- Caller: IT IS REAL
- EricAll these posts prove is that this site is a clusterf***. The experts on either "side" know nothing.
- ChristopherIt's Ebay and they are in Salt Lake City. I have many friends that work for them. The 801!!

- d. from florida replies to jimNot true! I've sold on eBay for 13 years and have been called several times by legitimate eBay employees to see if I was interested in selling tips, etc. They have also called when they are running a special rate for certain listing features. They don't call every seller, but they do call, particularly if you are a power seller.
- dawn replies to KateeBay does make this kind of call and it's not a fraud. I've sold for many years and usually receive a few calls a year from eBay staff regarding marketing and related selling tips or promotions. They do not request any private information or passwords.
- d. from florida replies to Fraud AlertNo it's not a fraud - it happens to be the way eBay does some of their marketing. Good grief, I've never seen so many mis-informed paranoid people. eBay calls it's sellers, particularly their power sellers to advise them of changes or promotions. They do not ask you for any personal information or passwords.
