Called twice Saturday morning. Asked for Nurvona, I told the female caller this is not Nurvona's phone number. The female caller then asked if I knew Nurvona. I said no and they hung up.

We have been getting calls from this phone number for several months off and on. There is a recording that says to hold for an important message then a representative gets on the phone and asks for someone who doesn't live here. When I explain that there is no one by that name that lives here and to remove our number from there records they say they do but they don't because they keep calling back. I have been hung up on when I ask to speak to their supervisor and I have talked to a supervisor and laid it on the line for them. I am assuming they are a collection agency that took over an account for discover and this is the only number they have for that person. They will call at 8am and call several times in a row as well as late at night.

Got a call from this number today.  Picked up and gave them 4 seconds of silence before hanging up.
After reading this I checked my discover account to find I somehow misfired my march payment into the previous months bill period and I had a late fee >.>

My advice to get them to stop calling:
    1)  Check your statement/Pay your blasted discover card ~ lol
    2)  If your not the person they are addressing.. that could mean someone that had your number before you isn't paying them.  This sucks and good luck convincing them your not lying to weasel out of your payment.  Try directing the idiots to your cell phone company, apartment building office, etc. so they can track 'em down.
    3)  Someone that didn't pay their bill gave Discover incorrect contact information (?)  Your phone # instead of theirs.. by accident or on purpose.  Not sure how you could convince them.
    4)  If you had the number for a very long time, and you didn't miss a payment....  then suspect a scam/spammer

Same story as most of you- these #$@$ers keep calling me several times a day (ID says 'Discover Financial') And it's especially annoying in the morning, when I've been woken up on my days off at 8:50 or so, several times. Not okay!
And there is never a real person to talk to on the line. I'm assuming it's charging you or something when you pick up. Some kind of scam...??
Which would also explain why they call the same number so incessantly, in the hopes that people will get angry and try to pick up and talk to someone (and then get charged).

It's very disruptive and disturbing. And criminal, I'm assuming... These people must be STOPPED!

I have had this number for well over a year, I have never had a Discover card, don't plan on getting one and all of a sudden I'm getting repeated calls on my cell about an overdue bill.  Well that's news to me since I don't have their card!!!!!!!!!  Enough already!

This is Steven Fredrickson...some of these comments towards me are childish and shameful, and it doesn't surprise me that those who are deadbeats, would make childish, immature remarks like this.

As to our collection procedures...we carefully follow the collection laws of our state and anyone claiming otherwise is a bald faced liar - it is YOU people who should be in prison for being a thief...not me!

Apparently my roommate doesn't like to pay his Discover bill on time... and for some reason Discover keeps calling *MY* cell phone. I had trouble with Discover in the past, and had to get a lawyer involved. Now they're calling me AGAIN?? It's harassment. I will never own a Discover card. These people aren't polite. Or intelligent.

Maybe if your company didn't change interest rates (up to over 30%) on a whim, folks would be able to pay on their credit card. You vultures ought to be ashamed!

    Surprise AZ
Got several calls the several hours. I've blocked them with my phone set (I love Panasonic!), but the first time they left a message stating that they were Discover Financial Services and that, as this was a pay week, they had a special offer for me. I realize that it was probably a stab in the dark, but today WAS payday and it made me wonder how much of my information is out there for any scam artist to use!

I know we all get these calls at odd hours and whatnot.  I know some of these agencies have no business calling us at all.  Here is the BEST solution to the problem....

    VONAGE

Yup.  Simple.  Get their service, activate "Do Not Disturb", have the voicemails delivered directly to your email account.

Give your friends and family ONLY your cell number and tell them to remove your house number.

My house phone does not ring.  Ever.

If you are expecting a call to your house, or you will be away for an extended period of time, have Vonage text you when you get a voicemail.  Either call your voicemail number, or check your email.  My wife gets txts on her phone when someone calls the house.  If it is an 800 type number we don't recognize, we just delete all trace of it.  No interest.

No, I do not work for Vonage, nor do I receive compensation from them.  I'm just happy that my phone hasn't made ANY noise in almost 2 years.

    Mr. Voicemail.

1-801-902-3152  or 1-801-902-2429 - Discover card.  They call 8-10 times a day.  They leave 2 VM in the morning and then call all day.

    dont own a discover card
I read the posts here and the first thing that comes to mind is I do not now nor have I ever nor has anyone in my family ever had a discover card. I am not a sympathizer of anyone that has a discover card either. I received this call on my cell phone at 7:54 AM EST

They also do not have an option to report mistaken numbers, in other words if you are not the subject of their call it is too bad they can keep harassing you.

PS I am not late on my only other credit card with Citbank for which I carry a ZERO balance. I dont have any other cards.

THAT'S WHY HE IS BEING SUED - FOR ILLEGAL DEBT COLLECTIONS!

IRS WILL BE COMING AFTER THEM SOON FOR FILING FALSE 1099C FORMS.

    Missouri AG Takes on Portfolio
Attorney General Koster takes action against fraudulent debt collectors

--Koster says businesses tried to collect debts people didn't owe--

St. Louis, Mo. - Attorney General Chris Koster today filed suit against two debt collection companies that are operating scams to collect debts from citizens who do not owe the money.

Koster filed law suits in St. Louis against Portfolio Recovery Associates, a public company based in Virginia, and Professional Debt Management located in Kansas City.

Koster said Portfolio buys old and bankruptcy-discharged debt, often from another bad debt buyer, and then tries to collect, sometimes through court action. He said the company often is attempting to collect on accounts that are already paid or have been discharged in bankruptcy; sometimes they try to collect from the wrong consumer or for the wrong amounts. He said the company has threatened to garnish consumers' social security checks, which they have no authority to do, and has refused to provide consumers with proof that the debt is valid.

Koster said Professional Debt Management uses scare tactics, leaving messages on consumers' phones that there is an emergency. He said that like Portfolio, they attempt to collect on accounts already paid or from the wrong party.

"The Attorney General's office intends to take aggressive action to protect Missouri consumers," Koster said. "I am asking the court to issue a permanent injunction prohibiting these companies from violating consumer protection laws and to order that they provide full restitution to the people they have harmed."

Koster also is asking that the court impose monetary penalties and require the companies to pay all court costs.

FIRST - everyone receiving calls from this organization should SCROLL DOWN to a previous message identifying this bunch (Portfolio Recovery Assoc out of Norfolk, VA with 'spoof' location in Kearns Utah) and how to lodge a formal complaint against them which EVERYONE should do. While they have obviously been put up to this by Discover Card, and represent themselves AS 'Discover Card' - they are a collection agency pure and simple. Equal complaints should be made against Discover Card for resorting to this sort of abusive organization.

Secondly - they are using several numbers (such as 801-902-2429; 801-902-2976) both of which geo-locate to LAT 40.67 LONG -112.01 so pull those coordinates up Google Earth and it looks like someone in a residential neighborhood is running these calls out of their home with a Robo-Dialer (now you know where to drop that 'blue-water' when you fly over from 30,000 ft ;)

    FILE A COMPLAINT PEOPLE !!!
