The same message everyone else got, except it was Robert who called. The senders voicemail info was from an area code 503 phone number from a woman named Christina.

“Hi this is Robert with the federal student loan assistance center I am calling to notify you that the Care Act ends on January 31st meaning all payments, garnishments and
federal tax offsets will be reinstated. It is extremely important that you call us back so we can get you set up with income based payments or total forgiveness. The phone number here is 817-345-0891. Uhm we look forward to speaking with you.

This number keeps calling my phone leaving messages from Jessica, Amanda, or Ashley.
The message left today was from Ashley with the "Student Loan Assistance Center". They are almost credible sounding in the messages they leave. I called the number provided. I had to call twice, because the first man who answered hung up on me when I said "No, I cannot pay a 'PROCESSING FEE' of $233 a month for six months". Initially he asked if I had student loans. Then he asked if I had been paying them before COVID. I told him I am disabled. He started asking illegal questions about disability. Then he made the proposition "Let's get you set up with an Income Based Repayment plan. But first, can you pay $233/month for six months to cover our processing fee." No. *click*

I called back. Another man answered. I told him that the prior agent hung up on me. Then I asked him if they are a federal student loan processing center. "Yes." Are you affiliated with the United States government? "No." I said, "Thank you. That explains it. Goodbye." *CLICK*

No. Do not answer these calls. Call the numbers listed on your lenders notices and the guarantors notices. This is a scam, and my calm responses and questions infuriated the first young man I spoke with. The acting was really bad.

I too received a message...this time it was this Msg.:
“Hello this is Ashley with the federal student Loan Assistance Center, I'm calling to go over the new deferment extension that was ordered by President Biden yesterday um this can be confusing as it only applies to certain loans the best thing for us to do is to get you set up into an income-based forgiveness program to ensure a little to no payments even after the pandemic ends um it is imperative that you give us a call back today at 817-345-0891…”

I get these voicemail messages a few times a day. I know they are a scam. They were doing this before the pandemic but are worse now. Its a recording. They don't even ask for and say a name so they  are just calling anyone on the list they brought. Some of these same ones call representing other scams.
