- alexjust got this exact same caller id on my cell as well about 10 min. ago, but didn't answer the call because I did not recognize the area code. Was also thinking that it might be a potential employer, so I decided to search this number to see if anything turned up. didn't realized that i wasn't the only one. Don't know how they even got my private cell number...
- Ben K.Called my cell phone unsolicitated.
- Caller: Allison...
- FredCalled phone unsolicted and did not leave a message. Tried to call # and got a does not exist recorded message.
- Caller: Unknown
- Call type: Telemarketer

[***]. - johnis anyone here a DJ or photographer?
i think i may have found the link if that's the case. - NI'm just a student, which sucks. I just got a call from this number this afternoon. No message. I hate when people solicite my cell phone.
- VicHave called us several times with different numbers too, trying to sell carpet cleaning services...this morning it was the 818-555-1000 number. We know that "555" is the fake prefix used in all movies and tv shows. We did not answer the phone. Isn't this illegal?

Received a call from 818-555-1000.
I have gotten this number and others like it for over five years. In addition, with the help of an ex-cop - now private investigator, we determined these numbers are a way for criminals to open your phone and listen into your home/business - even though the receiver is on the hook.
This is called "hook switch bypass" and it's real. That's why all these phone calls don't make sense. That's why you get hung up on, etc. Trust me - I've experienced this for five years.
It is fake caller ID. When you call it back, either there is no ringing, you get an error report, or a busy signal.
It is also used by computer hackers and just plain stalkers who have ended up on the "dark side" of life. It makes them feel important when they frustrate you. It is dangerous for these mutants and strangers to hear the private details of your life. We should all report these numbers to the police.
I even suspect it is used by organized crime to terrorize.- Caller: "Unavailable"

- ??I have just recieved a call from this number. I answered and they hung up. Oh well.
- marySame as Janet and DJ. Allison with carpet cleaning in our neighborhood.
And all 555 #'s are the ones used by TV shows and Movies.
So this is fraud at it's worst.- Caller: Carpet Cleaning
- Call type: Telemarketer
- lpgot calls, no message, glad i didn't answer
- Caller: "unknown name"
- pjboscThey just called here, but left no message. That's annoying.
- YogiBSame story as yours: fake caller id, no company name on answering machine, claims to be a carpet cleaning service. I get a call from them every few weeks.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- DoNotCallerReceived the automated call from Allison offering to clean my carpets. This is about the 15th call I've had from Allison. Same experience as others reported -- pressing 8 to get off the call list doesn't work and the "gentleman" who answers when you press 1 is a total jerk. What do we do to report this to whoever monitors the do not call abusers.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ckchave been getting these calls for months... sometimes every day for a week, then nothing for a month.. this time I pushed "1" and got some lady, I told her I am on the DNC list and want off their list and if they call again, I will report them. She told me to use the number 8 button to be removed from the list. I told her that i've done that every time they call, but they keep calling back!! she said "Here, let me do it for you.." and pushed the keypad, then hung up ! I am furious!

- Ric replies to DJSame thing here.
Called me three times (twice in one day even after I opted out). The "8" option simply doesn't work. When I spoke the "live" person, she simply hung up on me.
I'm on the "do not call" list. I'll be reporting them. $500 per violation. Join me on link below.
http://ag.ca.gov/donotcall/pdf/checklist.pdf - ChrisReceived the automated call from Allison offering to clean my carpets. Same experience as others reported -- pressing 8 to get off the call list doesn't work and the "younger lady" who answers when you press 1 is a total b*tch!. I enquired where they had received my phone # as I am on the DNC list, she stated "yellow pages". I stated I am not in the yellow pages, and on the DNC list. I repeated my question to her. Once again I was told my name was in the yellow plages. I stated I am not in the yellow pages, she then replied "your in the yellow pages dummy" and hung up on me! What do we do to report this to whoever monitors the do not call abusers? it looks as if the State and Fed are doing nothing!

- SupedveJust got a call from them, as the phone rang I looked it up on this website and instantly knew it was bogus. I had gotten a call from the Carpet Cleaners a few months ago and played them to schedule an appt, no one ever came though.
I am wondering if all the solicitation calls I am getting recently are from my resume being posted on Monster, Career Builder and a few other place. A great place for them to get peoples names, addies and perhaps salary info for future marks.
