I saw the call on my caller ID, no message. 555 was very strange for me so decided to check out online. Saw the posting by Goldie regarding hackers and realized that around the time of the call my internet didn't work, had to reboot the modem. Maybe just a coincidence, but was very strange. Did anyone else had a problem with their internet during or after the call?
Goldie, can you give more information on hook switch bypass and how we can check if it was used on our phones and what we can do to fix it?

Lady , You are arrogant and you better take my phone number off here before I have my lawyer file a case against you.  This company is a scam operation and they might not even be carpet cleaners, they are scamming the public for something but we do not know what.  You need to call the FTC give them my case number below and then when you find out from the FTC these dogshit people are using my phone number to mask their own...come back and delete this post.  I will post instructions for others on what they need to do again.

HERE'S WHAT YOU PEOPLE NEED TO DO:

I have a case filed with the FTC.  Everyone needs to call the FTC and file their own report and LINK it to my case.  Give the FTC my case number.  The FTC told me they will NOT investigate unless there are a bunch of complaints all linked together.

Since none of us know whos doing this , there is no way to link all our complaints unless you give them my case number.  Your story you tell the FTC will be similar to what I have told the FTC.

I pissed these people off so that is why they are using my phone number to mask their phone number. Addtionally, you read all over these posts how they are using other different numbers to mask their real phone number on your caller id...one of the other numbers they use often is the number for directory assistance. There is computer software available which allows them to do this (ask the FTC, they know about the software but phone company reps do not always know about this software.)

Call the FTC and go through the prompts to make a report.  A live person will come on the line rather quickly after you get through the prompts.  Give them your complaint AND tell them to LINK your report to my case.  This is critical to get the FTC to move on these people.   The FTC phone is (877) 382-4357  and my case # 109 823 33

HERE'S WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS TO DO:

I have a case filed with the FTC.  Everyone needs to call the FTC and file their own report and LINK it to my case.  Make sure you give the FTC my case number.  The FTC told me they will NOT investigate unless there are a bunch of complaints all linked together. To get the FTC to move, there has to be many innocent people being affected; I can't stress this enough.

The FTC needs to know we are all complaining about the same person/company and there is no way to do that except through linking our case numbers since none of us know who is behind this scam.  So everyone link to my case and thus we will all be linked.

Call the FTC and go through the prompts to make a report.  A live person will come on the line rather quickly after you get through the prompts.  Give them your complaint AND tell them to LINK your report to my case.  Giving them my case number is critical to get the FTC to move on these scammers.  The more people who call the FTC and make a report, the faster something might get done.

    The FTC phone is (877) 382-4357  and my case # 109 823 33

I do not have any other info to give at this time.  More information might come later and perhaps if we are all banned together, it will make a difference.  Anyone wanting any future info when it comes up, email me and just get on my database.  I will contact you when I know anything more or if something comes up where the FTC needs witnesses etc, I can contact you.  stopcarpetscam@yahoo.com

Keep in mind, this is probably not about carpet cleaning.  These people are likely trying to scam the public for something else.  I would suggest do not hit 8 to remove your number, it won't remove your number,  and hitting a button on your phone might be doing something or giving them something more.  I'm guessing here, but better safe than sorry.

The Do Not Call list does no good because none of us know who is doing this yet.  So these people can't get fined until they are identified.  The only way to possibly identify them is to get an agency like the FTC involved.  Everyone needs to call the FTC to make this happen.

PEOPLE DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS ON YOUR PHONE WHEN THEY CALL.

I just read the post from July 29.......that person is likely correct and what these scammers are doing is getting access to all your phone conversations.

It is the only thing that makes sense.  These scammers do not come to clean carpets and they dont ask for credit card info - their deal is to hang up on you.  I believe by pusing a button to talk to them you are letting them get access to all your phone conversations. Maybe all you have to do is pick up the phone for them to get access; I do not know.   Read the July 29 post.

Also the 555 prefix is a blank prefix.  There are no phone phone numbers starting with 555 like: (xxx) 555-xxxx .   This is why you see in movies for example, they will use the 555 prefix, so no one watching the movie calls anyone.

So the July 29 post makes PERFECT sense and these scammers are probably tapping into our phones.

Was just initiated myself...my suggestion would be to actually listen to the message and hit the prompts as if yopu are interested in having them clean you carpeting...They will eventually have to talk to you by phone. Ask for references...Once you get their company name, report them to the telephone company.

NO do not do this, do not hit the prompts.  These people are trying to get access to your phone and hitting the prompts will activate it.  See my other posts.  You cant find out what company it is since it is not a carept cleaning company in the first place......they will just hang up you.  All they want you to do is hit a key on your phone so they get a tap on your line.

I have a friend with the FBI who is also taking a look at these freaks. I also get many calls from this number. Mine are from "Dave" but the MO is the same. I believe stopscam is correct in saying they are trying to commandeer our numbers. They need to be caught.

On the do not call list, but that doesn't stop Best Cleaners from calling week after week, they will  never take me  off  their list even though requested time after time. I asked her today to once again remove it and she responded *uck you and hung up. Somethings not right with this company! Be careful! 818-555-1000 on caller I.D but number won't call back.

I know who these people are. They are two criminals that live in Las Vegas. They are connected to organized crime. One is tall, heavy, dark, with a very large nose & ugly. The woman is small, maybe Hispanic or mixed with Black or Palestinian, and has very black kinky hair.

They use fake caller ID to scam people. The call from 818-555-1000 is not for carpet cleaning. It's to open up your phone lines and listen into your home in order to get your bank account numbers, passwords, find out when you are not going to be home, etc. This is organized crime.

For personal reasons, I have been stalked by this mutant couple for years. There are ways to get them.

Message to these pieces of [***]: Are you dead yet???
