Woman said she was calling from Avante. Asked me to verify my date of birth. I said tell me what this is about. She wouldn't say until I verified. I told her I couldn't help her and hung up. She had my name and date of birth because she said it to me. I don't have any student loans. Do not verify anything if you decide to answer!

Woman asked for me by name and then asked me to verify my address. When I said No to verifying my address, she hung up

Called me, left no message. Scammmmm

Called but did not leave message.

Asked me the same thing and I have never told her any information but she did said my correct birthday but never Identify it. Strange

Called and asked to speak to me, by name, than asked to verify my birthday. I hung up. She said she was from Donté USA *I think*

They asked for someone we don't know and then tried to scare us we are in our 80's . They scared us we have to do something what do we do ??

It is against the law to threaten people and to scare them like they did you.  I would suggest that you read the following and send them the appropriate letter, as well as following the other suggestions on where to report them and then sue them, making them pay you for the harassment and threats.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Caller was female stated that she wanted to speak with my son in law. I told her that their phones were out and she said she would call them back at a later time but she would not leave a name or number and sounded angry when I told her to leave a message. Any how she hung up before taking down the right phone number so I guess I may hear from this number again

I just received a phone call from this number today and the woman said thesame thing that she wanted me to verify my address. She would not tell me what’s the matter is about except “this is a personal issues and I need to make sure I got the right person”. I told her I would not verify anything unless she let me know what the issue is. She then replied “That’s your choice and I can’t continue with this call” and hung up. I also have no student loans.

Did not take the call - they did not leave a message for me. I looked this up and will follow advice if I ever bother to answer the call. I have no student loans.

Called me asking to verify my phone number name and address - they actually already had my information

Asked for my wife by name.  Told her that it was not her number, she said she would remove it.  Wife got a collection letter yesterday from a different company on an Xfinity collection.  Maybe the same people??

she refused to give me even a company name unless i verified my dob and contact number.

It is a phishing call.  Woman called today for a second time. She spoke quickly while saying her first name and wanted to know if blank blank lives here? I asked her who she was, and to provide additional information about the the purpose of her call?  I also requested she not call again. Her tone became aggressive and she said. "Then don't answer, BYE." The number has been blocked.
