- DS replies to DKG| 1 replyThe telephone you get the text from will not be the same as the business number. This is an automated service for Square. a lot of people use them for their business for taking payments and also making appointments. I just asked about that with the people I got a text for.
- BigA replies to DSYes, we have been saying that but people are so intent on everything being a scam they don't listen. That person posted last April and will certainly never be back to see your reply.

- Texasroseinok| 1 replyI was at a local home and garden show recently and made a purchase. This is the receipt they sent me.....totally legit....some people may get texts that don't belong to them, that's because someone entered a wrong number to get their receipt....but this number is not a scammer--it's the receipt company.....be nice people.
- Caller: Square Receipts/Show-Me Products
- Call type: Text message
- BigA replies to TexasroseinokThat exact same information has been posted lots of times in this thread. Since schools don't teach people how to read and/or people are simply too lazy to read then they never learn anything and think that everything in the world is a scam/spam/telemarketer.

- Georgia replies to MikeHuntleton| 2 repliesHow could they have the wrong number on their account? You’re saying all these complaints were because of wrong numbers on customer accounts? I’ve had my same cell phone number for 17 years. You don’t just accidentally put the wrong number on so many accounts.
- BigA replies to GeorgiaNo, that isn't what he is saying and that isn't what I posted either. These are not "customer accounts" as if you went into a store on a regular basis and charged something. These are not credit card accounts. What these are and what has been explained over and over and over ad infinum is that these are simply receipts for a single transaction being sent by a credit card processor. No, card charges do not necessarily go directly to your bank. You go into a store or restaurant or you get something done at your house. You pay for it immediately, correct? Well that store or restaurant or contractor uses Square to process the card. Instead of giving you a paper receipt you get one sent by text. Now, if someone rattles off a phone number to get that text and they give the wrong number or the person entering the number fat fingers it then the wrong person gets the texts. Not really rocket science is it? But if the words I used were too big you could use the internet to look them up or find someone who can explain it to you.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Georgia
Exactly! It is the MERCHANT who holds an account with squareup, not the customers who made a purchase with a merchant and as explained already, it is the merchant who input a wrong number to a customer on THEIR account with Squareup and got sent to the wrong person(s).Quote:You’re saying all these complaints were because of wrong numbers on customer accounts?
I even posted a Support Article from Squareup on page 1, so perhaps you might go read it to understand why people get them by mistake:
https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/4989-incorrect-receipts - ArmI received a text from this number claiming I have a Squareup receipt for purchase...

- CJReceived a text from this number that said..
“Hi, to keep me a little more organized I have a new number! Save this number if you’d like to book an appointment, make changes to an existing appointment, ask hair questions, or send me your favorite TikTok, please text me at 833-239-6744”
