If you received a letter from them then that letter should have told you exactly what you should be doing.  It should have also told you that you only have 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt.  But then I can see how you could be confused since you posted in the wrong thread as well.  My guess is that reading is not your strong suit?  Wrong thread posts get reported.

They called and left a message for my sister who lives in a total different state then I do and left a message about her social attached to some paperwork. When the call started a girl was talking but when my sisters name was said it was a recording and then it went back to the lady talking. Sounded like she was reading from a script. then at the end they gave me a reference number that was also a recording. So naturally I called it back and some guy answered and when i said i was not my sister they quickly said they will remove my number and the hung up.

Rec'd voice mail on my landline instructing me to return call Re: a matter that had come to her desk, and needed to speak with me before she made a decision. She left her name as Reed, last name. I have no idea what or who this is. I did call this number and left her a message.

This company said they couldn’t mail me a letter of my debt with my signature on it showing I owe it. The only thing they could send me was an email with what they are willing to settle for and that’s it. They could not show the year or amount I so called collected this debt. It was some far out landing amount of money. The thing is they just started calling me for a debt that I apparently racked up 6 years ago! What in the world? They said they could only put a hold on my “account” with them for two days to give me time to pay it off or they will take me to court and sue me for the amount owed!
In the last 24 hrs they managed to call two of my relatives and freak them out.
Then I just tried calling them and left them a voicemail demanding a mailed letter of this debt with my signature on it and I should be given 30 days to dispute this debt.
Now I’m playing this waiting game......

They are asking for someone who I do not know, have no relations to whatsoever and give me a case number. When I call the number its two very rude representatives who say they work for an attorneys office. They are absolutely disrespectful, disgusting attitude, ugliest mindset you can ever find in a person. They constantly hand up as well

They called me with the same thing! I did have an old check into cash bill...but it had been paid off 2 years ago and then they attempted to tell me that I paid them back with a bad check. Which that is impossible considering I set up automatic payments from my account and it's been paid for 2 years. Originally hold me I owed $576 but was willing to settle for $375. Also strange that they called my grandma in which she had a different number back when I originally did the check into cash thing. And then they threatened me with legal action. I told them to send me something in the mail lol. She was not professional or polite. I called the oliver wright and associates in New York that is listed and they did not have my name in their system nor does check into cash deal with this company.

Same as others said, left “courtesy” message re documents sent to them with my name and ss# and wanted a statement. Lol this is either a scam or a debt collector. I’m a paralegal and I can tell you that if any legal action was gonna be taken against you they would never contact you like this.
