People please warn your older relatives that a common scam is these “debt collectors” calling about an unpaid account that has either already been paid or not real. They will even call a widow about their spouse’s debt and threaten their home.

Luckily for them the information they need to stop the calls, make complaints, and even sue them has been posted in this very thread.  You should direct them to it.

You reported them to the most useless, worthless outfit on the planet instead of actually reading the letter and doing what it told you to do, which was to dispute the debt within 30 days of the receipt of that letter?  Why?  In 48 states, the collection of debt past the Statute of Limitations is legal.  They simply cannot sue you for it.  Now on to the spelling lesson:

    noun
    stat·ue | \ˈsta-(ˌ)chü \
    Definition of statue
: a three-dimensional representation usually of a person, animal, or mythical being that is produced by sculpturing, modeling, or casting

They called me and said that I was going to be served for an out standing balance on a Visa card at Chase Bank from 2005 to 2014 when payments stopped. Never had an account with Chase Bank or any family member. I want to know how they knew part of my SS#, I do not feel safe.

No I did not make a mistake.  You are the one who is mistaken because you stopped at that one word instead of reading the sentence after it.  Try not to throw any stupid ideas through the windows of that glass house you live in and leave the advice to people who know what they are talking about and can prove it.  Of course if you think that you know that I am wrong you can always cite a reliable verifiable source such as a law, a rule or regulation by a Federal or State Agency, or case law (citing the whole case id).  Ball is in your court.

These people who claim to be debt collectors are actually harassing people everyday. They told me I owe Capital One money and that I have a debt to pay. The funny thing is, I contacted Capital One whom I've always paid and who I have a 0 balance with and they themselves told me it was a scam. The REAL Capital One even sent me letters stating that I didn't owe anything just to prove to this so called debt collector that indeed my balance was a 0 and I always had good credit with Capital One. The people are rude and disrespectful and think they know YOUR personal business but really don't even have their facts in order. I own a home and 2 very nice vehicles so I ALWAYS pay my bills, therefore a debt collector can never tell me I owe anything because I know it's a lie. Every single one of these people need to be fired! They are all rude and very disrespectful. The harassing phone calls should be illegal especially when you don't owe anything to any companies. They are a disgrace to the human race and should all be reprimanded for their rude and disrespectful behavior.

This is an illegal company. I have reported them to the local attorney general in my area. They constantly harass and are rude and disrespectful when you try to talk to them. They also et very upset when you don't fall for their lies. This company needs to be shut down and everyone that works there should be charged with fraud!

The "local attorney general"?  Most states have one that covers the whole state.  Tell me, have you read the other posts?  You would have benefited greatly had you done that.

"Amy Reed" called and left a message asking for a person I have never heard of "as a courtesy in regards to the documents attached to your name and social security number". Sounds so fraudulent that even if they had my name, I would block them and ignore it. This was the callback number.
