Called from a blocked number and left a message saying they had a package to deliver to me. It would go to my job then to my home if not successful. Advised to call this number if I needed to reschedule delivery or get information about what was being delivered. I googled the phone number to find out it is this company some type of collection and skip tracing agency.

Threatening call about debt collection and legal action they are proceeding to take against me.

Did anyone ever show up? I received the same call yesterday.

Called me from a private number stating a "process server" would deliver me "sealed documents" tomorrow to my residence and place of business. The number they left is the 8334981229 with a reference number, I'm almost sure this is a collection company and to be honest this tactic makes me want to pay it less.

I am confident this is a scam, if they simply called stated what the debt was for and worked with is we wouldn't feel like saying forget you.

The fake process server/location finder extortion attempt usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

Called today, same scam as everyone else posting here. They're rude and want your entire SSN before they will validate your debt, that is illegal and unnecessary.

I got the same call stating the same thing. During this heighten time if this pandemic, I wish I would pay a debt collector. How dare they call people and try to scare them when so many of us have lost jobs and are barely making it. I say good luck on going to my last job because we have been closed since March.

Caller called and stated that he was with Rose & Duncan Assoc. Stated that he would be going to my place of employment to serve me documents or to my home, but if I wanted to know or stop this process from happening then I would need to call the number and give the reference number.

Called to say they from rose & Duncan and needed to serve papers at 2:00pm the next day and for me to show I’d.  They will go to my job before coming to my house.  Good luck because I’m retired.

Got a call from rose and Duncan. They called me yesterday threatening me. They also called my relatives. I called the cops yesterday and gave them the case number the dude said on the voicemail he left. The cops looked it up and said that’s a fake case number. I also called the courthouse of my state and gave them the case number the dude said and they also looked up my name all over state wide and nationwide and there’s no case for me at all . The cops told me they are scammers who will try to scare you and do whatever it takes to scam you. Never give them any of your personal info, even less your SSN. Today they called again and I blocked their number. On the voicemail they said they will come to my residence with documents for me to sign and that I had to have my ID with me. All BS! All to get you scared! I blocked the number but if I keep getting calls from other numbers then I’m gonna have to call the cops again and have them take care of it since now I have the company name & phone number, you should do the same if they keep threatening you. They are scammers, that is illegal under the federal law.

Calls from multiple  833 numbers, this one was 833-207-0391. Same thing as others reported will be served be home to be served. Im retired its pandemic time. I know personally they will not come to serve. I reported number as scam. They called private left the number above with a case #. I know by law you need  to receive  written  documentation. Block the numbers they called 5 minutes later from another 833#.

Voicemail from a "blocked" number (always a sign of trustworthiness.)  "Andrew" stated that he was a private courier and was trying to schedule delivery from Rose & Duncan Associates.  He will be delivering to my workplace first at 2pm tomorrow (good luck, we are closed due to pandemic) and then my home address. If I would like to inquire before "signing" -- no mention what I would be signing, mind you -- I should call them at 1-833-207-0391 and provide a reference number.   I was legitimately scared at first, wondering what this could possibly be about, until reading the other experiences above.  I don't owe anyone anything, and I'm certainly not in danger of litigation, so this was a scary experience.  I will be reporting the call as advised.  At no time did they identify themselves as a debt collector nor did they state they were attempting to collect on a debt, but upon viewing Rose and Duncan's website, that's all they do -- debt collection.  Deceptive and fraudulent practices!
