It is a scam, they called and talked about court documents that I know nothing about, with reference number, and said if I don't act they will be at my door. They wanted a credit card #....I reported them to local police...

    Tell us more.
What is the "court" that served you papers?
    What is the supposed complaint?

I betcha it is a basketball court, or maybe a tennis court, and you do not know enough to tell us the "legalese" at the top of the supposed papers.  You conveniently forgot to tell us the name, address or website of the company that called you; so, I betcha you will forget to tell us the legal info as well.

I received about 5, 6 calls lately from Caller ID unknown which I normally don't answer. After they harrassed me for a few days with their calls, they finally left a voicemail that is rather incomprehensible, requesting me to return the call immediately to the phone number 8442702355 (they also left a so called control no: 14CA9729) or else they will issue some mysterious documentation/paperwok (no mention as for what kind) to my name. I checked this number online and it looks like there are other peope out there who received similar calls from these scammers and that they usually ask for a credit card number. I didn't get to be asked that since I never answered the calls from them, other than the voicemail whose content I detailed above.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Talking in the mirror to yourself again?  Not very healthy, maybe you should see a Dr about that problem.  Especially since you seem to have a very low opinion of yourself.

That person 'stole' my username for some reasons  (see my post above his/hers, that's my ID and note that I reported  this scam. I think he/she is trying to intimidate people (such as myself) who reported this scam. I just went to the local police and reported the scam, showed them the voicemail stored on my phone. Thanks for the info u posted. Again, if smb else post under my nickname again on this forum, it's not me if they use expletives and invectives. As a rule I do not use those.

That person who posted the expletive comment 'stole' my username and posted here, I reported it to the site managers. See my comment above his/hers where I was simmply reporting this phone number as scam and providing details. He/she posted their comment right after mine using the same username as mine. It baffles me why they're doing this,  I think it's to obfuscate and intimidate people who report this thing.

After your first post, we figured that - shills and trolls do post under other peoples' IDs, trying to confuse the issue.  :)
