i just received the same  message...but at my work.

Called me and my husbands phone back to back looking for the where abouts of me and that they were going to contact the authorities if they didn't hear from us.

I called and they said I had a loan from 2013. They said they sent out a packet to me when I asked for the address they gave me the wrong address. Also the lady named Penny hung up on me when I asked for proof of this loan and was just very rude.

Getting this same phone call from Mark Wallace. Does anybody know what the company name is? I would like to file a formal complaint against them but I need the company name first.

This jerk called me with the same message – looking for my son.  He better hope he doesn't find me first.

The infamous  “Coastal” or CFS scam.  No idea where they are located.  Call from a variety of numbers for several years now. Ignore and block any calls received from this “Coastal” group. Sometimes uses the CID of “Coastal Litigation” or Coastal Pre-litigations.

Mark Wallace is a current debt scamming persona for this “CFS”.

Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) As is endless harassing calls.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

I've receive the same call, robot call male threatening voice  if i dont call they will take it to the proper authorities. No identifying,  nothing. How do report them

He said he was looking for my brother and if I don’t give him any information. He will go to the authorities

They just left a mesaage for me on my husband's phone.

Called my husband's phone and left a message and stated they would contact tthe authorities on me. Guess they don't read the fair sebt and collections act that they can't make threats.

"Mark Wallace" lookn 4 "Charles Middleton"(distorted/recorded voice)- NOT ME or anyone I know!! I want 2 know what company this is too! Also claims if does not hear from me re: that person, "will contact proper authorities"... OK...go ahead! Whatev, ya know?! Stupid waste of time!

Same as all of you except he used my oldest daughter's name. Another number for block.

"Originally called me Friday October 6th. I was called me again today Monday October 9th. Mark Wallace (if that is his or her real name) left the same message again.

"Hello, my name is Mark Wallace. I'm calling today in regards to a formal complaint that's been filed against one (robotic voice says name of individual). If you have any information as to the whereabouts of (robotic voice says name of individual) please contact our office immediately at 844-369-3861. Again 844-369-3861. Our next step will be notifying the proper authorities. Thank you."

They did not specify which company they were calling from and what the matter was in regards to."

I received several calls exactly like the others.  So tired of them calling.

Call over and over ! Obviously a scam never do loans.

Recorded message with a voice that was trying to sound scary. Said there was a formal complaint against me and that I needed to call them back or they would reach out to the proper authorities. Tried calling the number back but it says line is busy and wants you to leave a voice mail.

Same exact thing - robotic message pauses for a different robotic voice saying my name - back to robotic message etc. Same exact message. Total scam.

Received message from 844-369-3861, Mark Wallace saying same as above about a person I haven't seen in 10yrs. scam scam scam

And they just called again.  I have already contacted (without a lot of faith) the "Do Not Call" folks.  Tried my local (Florida) States Attorney General office and found a distinct lack of interest.  To the individual who posted the rather lengthy info on CFS and the web address for info and actions.  Thank you, truly thank you.  I do appreciate the info and will be doing a follow-up.
