- MHThis number has called before claiming to be a debt collection service. They say that I owe a hospital for a surgery that I had about 5 years ago. However, I didn't have surgery at all and if I had needed one, I would have gone to Kaiser--because that is who my insurance was through at the time. They keep calling and calling. I've received no notifications in the mail from them or the hospital they are supposedly representing.

- L HI just received a call from this number stating I owe money. I do not have any debt seeing I am a young college student living at home. This is 100% a scam!!!
- V L| 1 replyI get pre recorded calls from this mid west recovery service at least once a day, under various bogus phone numbers. They say they are a debt recovery system and I need to call them at the 844-458-4811...of course I don't call as I don't owe anything...if it is so darn important, why do I get a recording, and not a personal call? This is nothing but a fishing expedition and I am sick of these annoying crooks.

- BigA replies to V LThe solution to your problem is simple. Keep in mind that they have already violated the law if they have not sent out that dunning letter after leaving the first message.
You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt) letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested). Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it. Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it. Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front): http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

BBB gives them an accredited A+ rating with 490 complaints and 7 negative reviews (up from 82 and 1, the really strange part is they have a lot more complaints and bad reviews, yet the BBB raised their rating from a B to an A+, wondering how much that cost?): http://www.bbb.org/stlouis/business-reviews/c ... s-mo-310487393/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- captain barnes| 1 replyMy wife received a call from Midwest Recovery through a voice message and returned the call. It was allegedly a debt I owed. I talked to them and asked for a stamped, self addressed envelope with the information about the debt. They said they only send info. They only wanted my info which I told them I do not give that to someone I do not know. I did get heated but they called me abusive. I do not give out my personal info over the phone. Period !!!

- Andi CoughmanI received a call from a number with a Florida area code - I didn't answer. Later, I received a call from a Rhode Island are code - this one I answered. Both times were the same audio message telling me to call this number. I, of course, just searched the number before even entertaining the idea of calling them, which led me here to confirm my suspicions.
