I get a call from this number every single day and up to three times a day!  Just like the others, they claim to be the IRS  which we all know is a scam.  What can be done so that they stop calling ?! So frustrating

The guy said he sent his agent twice out to my home and he correctly verified my address and said its not his problem i wasnt home. I said he didnt leave anything. He said they left a yellow slip. I told him i didnt believe him and he said well we have a warrant out for your arrest and i said no you dont, then he hung up on me. Wow just wow!!!!

Same message as others, but it's clearly a computerized voice (think Apple SimpleText app talking). Threatens IRS law suit is pending against us but there isn't.

Not at the present time.  Callers are located in India and Pakistan and ignore all US laws.  Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers ou do not recovnize.  It would be a good idea to block the entire 844 area code.  It is often favored by scammers of all stripes.

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.  IRS has enough administrative authority under the IRS Code and related regulations to collect all taxes lawfully due the federal government.     Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest as related to ordinary tax disputes.  Having a deficiency in taxes owed by way of audit is NOT a crime.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks or Itunes cards or similar for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional or driver's licenses. Professional DL licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Everyone needs a caller ID screen - 844 - is the red flag. I have a landline (!!) Time Warner phone and they have a robo call blocker (free) option - turn it on, get one ring and call disconnects. The number comes up on my call log so I can review.

Call came in this morning--message left of ans. machine.  Final notice-yada-yada-yada.  Male voice/unaccented.  IRS filed lawsuit.  These people are parasites.  Apparently there are scores of people who consider this legitimate, moral, ethical work!

The call came in at 11:22am.  We have the entire 844 area code blocked and our phones did not ring - not once.
I'm having grave difficulty comprehending the ignorance of some of the people posting here.  This call is an old CRIMINAL SCAM that has been ongoing for many years.  This scam has been a topic of local and national news for years and even IRS bulletins.  Being an older person does not excuse your ignorance!  I am a senior citizen (73 years young) and I have known about this scam for years.

Please do as CWG40 kindly recommends - DO NOT ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS - you have an answer machine or VM - please use it!
NEVER call these criminals back - for any reason!
Please purchase a call blocking phone or a blocking device.  These phones and devices are inexpensive and easily available through Amazon & Costco.
Do what you mother taught you - DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS AND NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION!

Getting tired of these calls my elderly mother receives and how they scare her into thinking that she's in trouble with the IRS. I'm blocking them but unfortunately they use a lot of different numbers to do their dirty work.

For more information on how the IRS really operates, here is a link to an article on the IRS.gov website that addresses these scam calls. It's really informative and provides resources for more information as well as how to report these calls. https://www.irs.gov/uac/newsroom/phone-scams- ... 6-filing-season

Answering machine message said they were with the IRS and had filed a lawsuit against (Me?). I don't think the IRS would even make robo calls on Labor Day.
