Literally have no idea what this person is saying. Garbled nonsense. Sounds like she’s talking while being bounced around inside the trunk of a car. But she doesn’t sound the least bit distressed so I’m guessing not a kidnap victim. BLOCKED

Got voicemail but now says Wakefield and Associates, also debt collector. I have none so did not call back

John from this number, called and asked to speak to my daughter. I told him that she was unavailable and if I could take a message. He proceeded to tell me to tell her to call the number that showed up. when I asked him what was this in reference to and that I was her mother he said that he couldn't tell me because it was personal information, so I asked him how did he get my number and he said that she used me as a reference. I then proceeded to ask him if she had me down as a reference then he should have her number to call her. He then stated that he did not have her number. I asked how do you have my number but don't  have hers if she "put me down as a reference number? He hung up after that.

Debt collection extortion scam.  Your daughter is the intended crime victim of these people.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid. 

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

They called and left a message.  Said they calling from Blakefield and Associates and they are attempting to collect a debt.  I researched the number and came up with this site.  I have never recieved any documentation from this company and will be blocking the telephone number.  Ill admit, I'm tempted to call....but if its a true debt, they'll find me eventually.  Lol.

The more we all share this kind of info, the mire we can protect eachother and our family from these kinds of scams.

Called today. I let messages from people I don't recognize go to voicemail. He left a message but he talked really fast and mumbled so I couldn't understand a word he said. Definately not calling back.

It's a debt collector saying I owe money for something that I never did and I'm trying to find out why and I'm telling them it wasn't me and they still act like I'm supposed to pay it

SCAM SCAM SCAM. These guys call every so often, and it lasts for about a week. Then a few months later they resume. Total scam. Saying this is owed and that and I owe nobody anything. Trying to get personal data, etc. Don't even answer the call.

They alled my cell phone and left a message.  The only words I understood were "debt collector".  Nice try!

Call all day throughout the day. Finally left a voicemail from what sounded like Wakefield and associates. The man spoke so fast and left a different callback number. I am nervous about answering I had an issue with another company like 6 months ago who ended up extorting money.

Very persistent on who i was and wouldn't give any information so I hung up.

Foreign man called for my husband and said he had information he needed to share with him. My husband is stage four head cancer and medicated for death by hospice. He would not identify his reason or company. Called number to hear business greeting does not give one

Someone called from this number and left a voicemail.  I listened to the voicemail, but I couldn't understand what was being said, due to the caller having a very thick foreign accent.  Probably a scammer.

Called my DNC-registered cell phone - didn't recognize - didn't answer - left voicemail (summarized): "Wakefield Associates - debt collector - please call 866-678-7953"

A man called and was asking questions regarding my minor son and claims that he had important information. He was asking for our correct. address and dob. I told him I can't give him any info until he told me why he wanted me to verify my info. He then told me to go on wakefield.com to verify who they are. Scam /Block their #
