I received a call from 844-554-0403
He said hus name and asked if he was talking to ‘Srocha’ (me)
I replied yes and then the gave me my birthdate (whuch was correct) and asked me to verify if it was correct.
I asked who it was snd he said he was from ‘Wakefield & Associates’
He was very curt, impatient and rude.
Now, I have NO bills that are overdue.. none, zero, so I knew it was a scam.
After i hung up, i looked up that company. It is a legitamate company name, i called, but the office was closed for the day, by 45 minutes. I called the scam number back and someone answered to that company name.
THIS IS A SCAM NUMBER!! Do not give any info!!

The voicemail said they were from Wakefield Associates a debt collection agency

They called and asked for my ex-husband of 12 years and then told me that if I want them to stop calling me, I just need to give them his phone number.  I told them They better stop calling me and stop threatening me too.  The man responded that he wasn't threatening me.  Telling me that I need to give you my ex's number if I want calls to stop sounds like a threat to me.

Scammer. Has called multiple times from "Wakefield and Associates" and is trying to extort you. Don't pick up, don't talk to them, and don't call them back - you risk giving away personal information.

I got a voicemail message in which "she" said, "This is a debt collector," and to call this number; HOWEVER, at no time was my name mentioned nor was I given a Reference # to use during the callback. This isn't the way "normal" debt collectors operate; so, based on my call and all of the other postings re this phone number, I consider this a SCAM call — BLOCK IT!

Rcv similar call. No msg left. Suspect a debt collector calling for someone else.

Hello, to the owners of this site. Tell us what you are doing to combat these criminals with the ton of money you're making off of ad revenue from this site? I like that you have a place to come and see comments to verify that a number is fake or a debt collector, but these calls are illegal and you apparently get thousands of hits. Enough to sell ad space to billion dollar companies. So are you using the info that you gain here to help with the problem?

You like reading information about phone calls, but don't want to pay a registration, signup or subscription fee, right? So isn't that good enough, knowing you can come here, lookup numbers and find information for free?
So what if they make money from Ad revenue, you don't have to pay for them, do you?
You are a very ungrateful person to come here and ask such a personal question that quite frankly, is none of your business!

You might have addressed "the owners of this site" directly rather than pave a topic detour. Maybe you imply that 800Notes derives immoral profit from the misery of distressed people, being therefore "part of the problem, not the solution". What would you have Admin do? Petition to join the Consumer Sentinel Network? I'm not even sure the private sector is invited. Begin a crusade of litigation against fraudulent entities? I can already hear the collective screech of protest once the site exits the shelter of the Communications Decency Act §230.

As I reflect on the many times bad businesses have threatened to sue or actually did for various "defamation" reasons, and the site's unbroken winning streak, I would say that 800Notes as it exists has done more good for the vulnerable and gullible among us than your kneejerking theory projects.

Scam!!! Said I owed them money and they were a debt collector called Wakefield  and Associates. I didn't pick up. I'm not calling back. I don't have any debt.

Reading the comments I am glad I didn’t pick up as I normally do for numbers I do not have saved on my contact list.

Also I don’t have a voice mail set up so anyone calling for this kind of nonsense, you’re wasting your time. Numbers who I do not have save I just simply ignore and then quickly block. If you need me that bad, text me and I’ll decide wether I want to respond.
