    Tired of scammers
I got a message from a different number telling me to call this number about an important legal issue. When I called this number it said the number wasn't set up to take calls. Then 3 hours later this number called and left no message.

Just got a call from this number. Called back lady said it concerns a legal er involving myself. When I tried to ask who they were all I got was this is a legal firm, then asked to verify my social security # by reading it back to me on the phone. I did not verify but threatened to have my lawyer sue them for announcing my ss# over the phone that was being recorded.

Received a call  from these scammer bottom feeders.  They wanted me to verify my social security number.  When  I refused, the woman stated  that she was with a legal firm and would be turning my"file" over to the attorney.  When  I told her I wanted their company name and address, she said it was Pacific and gave me an address that googled  to an UPS store.  She hung up.  I work in  the court system and this  is a total scam so don't verify anything.   I made  it clear  to her that for every time she called me, I would call her back 15 times so she knew how it felt to be harrassed.  I continued to hit redial, just to let her see how it felt.  I know these scammers have caller id and they are going  to get sick  of talking to me!  I don't owe anyone, so this trash can
    try  to scam someone else.

One  more thing.  Don't let them frighten you with all their "legal" or "pretrial" language.  I work in  the courts and if they feel  that it  is a legitimate debt they must notify  you by mail and give  you 30 days to dispute a debt.  The lawyer has to have a license  to practice in your state and file any case in  the county you live in.  These  people want  to frighten people into verifying social security numbers or paying some "debt" over  the phone.  DO NOTHING OVER  THE PHONE!  Google the number they call  you from.  If it was a legitimate company, it would go to an actual law firm website.  Every attorney has a bar number.  If  you receive a call from anyone claIming to be an attorney, ask what his bar number  is and verify it with your state bar.  It  will list their firm and you can call that and verify any debt.  This  is a total scam.  Don't fall for it!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

If  you gave them any banking ot credit card information, I would close  the account or cancel the credit card immediately.  This place  is not legit.  I would also keep track of your credit score/report.  Credit Karma has free monitoring.  If  it was a legitimate collection agency, it would show up on your credit report.  Since this phone number goes back  to nothing, it  is not a legitimate company and they can do nothing to you legally because what they are doing is totally illegal by claiming to be a law  firm when they aren't.  THEY can go  to jail for fraud.  You don't go  to jail for nonpayment of even a legitimate debt.  There are no debtor's prisons, anymore!  Hang up on them and block their number.

They called my job, asking for me and using a very fast yet threatening tone of voice, saying that i have 48 hours to call them or they would show up at my place of business or home between 12noon and 3pm.  they said, that it is a legal matter and they must contact me in order to get the information they need.  They left a voice message the second time on my voice mail telling my boss that i needed to call and what is is about.  why would they leave that on my voicemail for my boss when my voicemail clearly states my name?  so i called the number back and it is a machine.  They call every 2-3 weeks.  They have even called the company for 6 different people but they have the same number.  it is a scam,  they never say the name of the company and when i asked what it is for they dont know and one time they gave an old credit card bill that i paid back 3 years ago. it is crazy how much infor that have.  never give your address or personal info
