- Bill| 1 replyThey say they're Nelnet but continue to just ask for my account number, I've never got an account number from them so when I tell them I never got my account number they keep harassing me for my social security number. That's the "only way" to look up my account. I have student loans through someone else and all they need is my name and address, very sketchy. And obviously I refuse to give them my social but they keep calling me.
- JenniferDidn't answer because it was an unknown call. It said forward when they called. Didn't leave a message.
- kai| 1 replyIt's NelNet trying to collect debt/set up payment plans/ get ahold of delinquent accounts. They call from several numbers and send text alerts from several numbers too.
- Caller: NelNet

- kai replies to kaiAlso, for the record, as someone who worked as a telemarketer/echo-dialer/robo-caller.....the national do not call list is not respected. It's not a law....places that are VERY persistent may lay off calling at the mention of DNC lists, for a week. To avoid harassment charges. But they will never -not call-. My old workplace harrassed people that were dead for years and were on the do not call list. Soooo......yeah...
- Katiep| 3 repliesOk reading these makes me wonder if it is in fact legitimate because Nelnet and the Dept of Ed have all my information and consent to leave voicemails and this number never leaves a voicemail. If it is a serious or urgent business matter, such as student loans are, why not leave a voicemail that says hi this is so and so from xyz company and we need to speak to you. Please call us back as 123-456-7890. Why is that a hard concept?

- EthnicAmerican-American replies to JackieAny large company is going to have hundreds of telephone numbers, only one or two of which will appear on the website. And sometimes, they hire third parties to make the calls for them.
- EthnicAmerican-American replies to Katiep| 2 repliesThe law limits how many times they can talk to you. The count includes leaving messages. If they leave a message, they cannot call again the same day. The count does not include hang-up calls. If they don't leave a message, they can call again later.
- JustinCase replies to EthnicAmerican-American| 1 replyGood luck finding a scammer that will care about any laws.
