- Irene replies to Kay| 1 replyYes, I got the same one and plan to block the caller.
- DWReceived call from Dennis at the "Worldwide Notification Center," supposedly we won a prize (car?) after filling out an online entry form some 8 months ago. Sure Buddy. The caller-ID was 773-639-2399.
- J SmithReceived a call from Mike and Juan 2 days later stating they were call from Worldwide Communications and they were not telemarketing and were aware of the do not call list 1-844-273-4600. Said I had filled out a sweepstakes at either a mall, festival or on a vacation. I never do those things. Told them I wasn't interested.

- RitaCaller ID said FESTIVA. Call stated the following. “Hi this is Juan calling from world wide notification services. World wide notification service is a telecommunications service that is used by other companies to notify consumers on their behalf. I have made many efforts to reach you regarding a entry form that was submitted with your name within the last twelve eighteen months to receive a new car. This is my final attempt to notify you that your name was pulled and your eligible for one of our top four major prizes. It's in your best interest to give me a call back as soon as possible. My number is toll free at 18448674077 extension one two four. We're not a telemarketing agency this is not a cold call so please respond to this message. I'm very aware you are on the do not call list so I wouldn't be calling you unless you actually entered. This is a time sensitive matter. I do look forward to hearing from you. Once again congratulations my name is Juan.”

- LMI received the same message from "Raymond" at World Wide something. He said I needed to call him back at 844-273-4600 x 129 right away and that I had won 1 of 3 prizes. He said this was my last notification, and that he knew I was on the Do Not Call list, but it was not a scam. It sounded like a very BIG scam to me, but I didn't call back to find out.
- Caller: WorldWide
- DebbieGot the call from Juan. Same stuff as others regarding wining a car. He also said he knew I was on the Do Not Call list and that is why I was getting the call -- Go figure. He also said it was in response to an entry form I completed in the last 12-18 months. Doubt that since I have not filled out any forms. I did call back. Was transferred to someone else - not Juan. He asked my name so he could look up what I won. Naturally I didn't give it to him. He insisted that then Juan would have to call me. But hey according to Juan this was the final call! Anyway reporting this here so others know the scam.

- Josh replies to Hal HumeSo I received a very similar call and had all of the same conversations as everyone else here. The caller told me I had won 1 of 4 gifts (car, money, TV, computer) and that there were a few things I had to do to claim the gift. First, my wife and I had to attend. Second we had to bring photo IDs and a major credit card (repeated emphasis on simply flash the card, no need to hand it over). Third, we had to drive about an hour to a hotel where I would fill out our info. The process would take about 90 minutes and afterwards we would be allowed to select 1 of 4 scratch off tickets. Scratching off the ticket would reveal which 1 of the 4 prizes we had won. It was repeated more than once that I was guaranteed to go home with one of the 4 prizes and that I had nothing to lose.
So after some consideration I decided that I did in fact have nothing to lose but my time and decided to go recieve my prize. Well as you my have guessed this wasn't an awards ceremony. It was a sales pitch for a travel club. At the end I was in fact presented with a pile of scratch off cards to chose from. The one I chose revealed, as some of you probably would guessed, that I had won a vacation. Wait, what, that wasn't one of the 4 original gifts! I should have known better.
The travel club was goldcrownresorts.com and for all intents and purposes was a timeshare, despite the ardent statements that it was not. The club did not seem to offer significantly better prices than any online travel sites but in their defense they were pricing condo stays not hotel room stays. As for my prize I have a feeling that my free vacation is going to be more of the same sales pitch. - Tamianth replies to Gloria BIts ILLEGAL to ask for money to receive it.

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0076-telemarketing-scams - AaronI received a call today from 708-300-6264 left a message on my answering service saying I won a new car and they have been trying to contact me. Stated this is their final attempt. Wants me to return a call to Juan at 1-844-867-4077. I was skeptical and found my way here. Glad I searched!

- GaryI received a call from Juan on June 11, 2014 saying that i won a car. The call came from Festiva,1 708 856 0857. "Juan" identified himself [***] associated with Worldwide Notification Service, with a return number of 844 867 4077, extension 124.
This must be a scam.- Caller: Festiva
- SusanI received two of these calls left on my voicemail. To be clear, Juan did not say I won a car, but acknowledged that I put in my name to win a car (which I did enter my name into a Toyota raffle about 3 months ago). They did not identify me by name and I'm not sure how all of you could have won one of the four major prizes since there were only four major prizes. It was Juan who called me from extension 124, but I wonder if he goes by Mark too after reading your posts?

- GALike so many others before me I rec'd the same speel call today from Crystal at x 120. Funny thing, the company they represent is 30 minutes away. While on the call, I googled and cannot locate the company but did locate a business park at the address given for that town. When I told Crystal, I could not find the company, she said it was a new business having grand opening tomorrow and the next day. That's odd, a new company would certainly want to have a website up and running to attract clients BEFORE the "grand opening". Yep, if it smells fishy, something stinks.

THIS DAY AND TIME NO ONE IS GIVING AWAY anything worth having.

- MGI got the same call from "Juan." I think part of the scam is that the originator of the scheme has setup multiple corporations, probably in different states. One corporation does all the telephone work while other corporations located in the target market areas sell the time shares. That way the "notification" company can say without clearly lying that they don't actually sell anything and that they only notify consumers "on behalf of other companies." These days it's cheapest to make a large volume of phone calls using VoIP, and the caller ID data on VoIP is easy for a technical person to spoof. The enterprise is setup to protect the true location of the outbound call center, the most legally vulnerable part of the entire operation (they're breaking the Do Not Call laws, after all), while allowing the phone reps to safely give out a real address for consumers to visit in order to receive their sales pitch and “prize.”
By the way, the "claim number" is a way to track the telephone agent's effectiveness. The telephone agent makes a commission of $25 or so for every person he or she gets to actually attend a sales presentation; that's why they tell you the claim number is so important. If you go to a sales presentation you can be sure that your sales person or the receptionist will ask you for the number, and the telephone reps check commission reports frequently to see if any of their prospects actually attended a sales presentation. If you had committed to attend a presentation but then changed your mind, you'll still be considered a hot prospect and you'll receive a follow up telephone call to reschedule.
Husbands and wives have to attend the sales presentation together so they will both be present to sign the final legal contract. (Attending together also eliminates your potential objection, "I'll have to check with my spouse.") You have to bring a credit card to the presentation so that the sales people know you have the tools with you to make a down payment, and having credit helps counters the objection, “I can’t afford this.” As long as they get your credit card details, the promise that the card “never leaves your hands” is irrelevant.
Years ago I won one of those vacation packages when I went to hear a time share presentation. After I made it clear that I would not be buying a time share unit, a woman handed me an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and walked away. One side of the paper had a picture of a cruise ship sailing in blue water; the other side listed the legal terms. Among the terms were the conditions that I had to pay for my own transportation to and from the place where the ship was docked -- Miami, Florida -- and that although the cruise itself was free (not counting extras like alcohol, tips, etc.), I had to remit a $150 non-refundable "port fee" within the next few weeks or else I would forfeit my prize. I also had to commit to staying overnight in a Miami hotel, at my own expense, the day before the ship set sail. I doubt very many people took advantage of the "free" cruise.- Caller: Worldwide Notification Services

- LHI rec'd 2 calls in a row earlier today, that were left on my answering machine. Per my answering machine, the calls originated from Chicago IL. The number the female left for me to return her call was 1-844-273-4600 ext 204. WORLD WIDE NATIONAL NOTIFICATION CENTER. Gloria was the females name. THE SAME SPILL. She said she had made numerous attempts to call and today was the final attempt to notify me. She stated "you filled out an entry form in the last 12-18 months, and it is about receiving a new car." She said my name was pulled and they were ready to award me with one of the top major 3 prizes. Also that "IT WAS IN MY BEST INTEREST TO CALL ". She stated that they were Not a telemarketing agency or time share. It was Not a cold call. "Please do not ignore this call". I am VERY aware of the DO NOT call list, so I wouldn't be calling you unless you actually entered.
I'm glad to see that we are not the only people to get these calls.
