Received a call from them today at work. I missed the call but did call back. They said I owed $170 from a payday lender from 2010. I asked for them to mail me a statement and she stated that they did. But it was to an address that I have not been at for 3 years. So I said to send it to my new address. She wanted to email it to me but I would not give my email address. She asked if I set up a forwarding address with the post office which I did. She was hesitant to take my current address but she did take it and stated that she will notify her client that she spoke with me but still would proceed with checking my assets and my employer. I said it was fine. Suzanne was very rude to me even though I was very nice but direct that I would not give her any money today without the written verification.

A debt collector complaining that one of my relatives in another state is not paying their bills. I refused to call my relative or Facebook my relative to question my relative about the debt and the Debt Collector hung up on me when I told him that I didn't work for Summit and that harrassing me was illegal. Summit also uses 844-498-6545

Summit Receivable's recording called me yet again saying that they have an uncomplimentary report about me and that I should call right away to straighten it out. I called right back and they were still looking for my out-of-state relative(see previous post). I asked to talk to a manager but I was denied, seems there were no managers available. I reminded them that they already called me, that I already refused to call or Facebook that relative about the debt, that these requests were unreasonable, that I didn't work for Summit Receivables, that my signature is NOT on the debit, they KNOW that my relative is in another state than I am in, and calling me repeatedly about my relatives was illegal harrassment. I was told they will stop calling me.

Received call from 1-844-880-9293 at 1:13 P.M. CST on December 22, 2015. Message left was from a man identifying himself as Anthony Amadayo from Summit Receivables. Stated that he had left me several messages and that he needed to verify some information. Also stated the call was an attempt to collect a debt. Left callback number of 1-844-498-6545. First I have EVER received a call from an 844 toll free number, so his statement about leaving several messages is completely FALSE. Called number given to callback, rang for about a minute with no answer. Called number that original call came from and got recording stating "your call cannot be completed at this time, please hang up and try your call again later, thank you". Clearly suspicious in nature. Sounds like a scam to me.

***A company must be licensed in their state as well as the one they are trying to collect in if two different states are involved.

    Some Tips:
    *Keep all messages
*Take a picture of your Caller ID
*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.

Looks like GMA was sued so they changed their name:
    https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/8531 ... ments_LLC_et_al
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
