I have an all-in-one printer, which includes a fax machine. A nice feature of that machine is that I can transfer a call from any phone in the house by pressing a touch tone sequence. They only get "How are you today?" before I press the sequence to transfer the call..

Got my first call from 8552288570 today.  Age-wise, I'm just a couple weeks away from applying for Medicare.  I've been getting loads of unwanted solicitations in the mail from would-be Medicare supplementary plan providers.  Like they said on "60 Minutes" last night, it's not the hackers we need to fear, it's the marketers and the social websites and email websites that troll through our emails, profiles, viewed sites, etc. that make our private data available to all these annoying purveyors of crap we don't want.  And I'm on the DNC and the "Do not send direct marketing mailers to me" list.  The annoying fly-by-night marketers ignore these sites, just like criminals ignore the gun laws, and no one in the government really tracks them down and punishes them... neither the criminals nor the fly-by-night marketers.  The Gov just pretends to care, to keep us quiet.

You have to file complaints with the DoNotCall registry in order for them to stop that number from calling you.  Just follow the instructions. You must report every number you want stopped.  The DNC reg. does not stop all unwanted call just because you got on their list.

Yes...received a call this morning, some foreign guy, said he needed info regarding pre-medicare, he wanted to verify my home and income information. I said I wasn't interested and hung up.  This afternoon same number called and female foreign asked for one of the household members that will turn 65 this year, when asked who was calling she said something about medicare and hung up.  Annoying!

I actually got a person on the phone, probably Indian.  He is hopefully still rolling on the floor holding his ear after getting a dose of my screecher.  I wish my wife would let me buy the mini air horn that can be heard a mile away.

What makes you think I want to even hear from those "Legitimate businesses" to start with?  The phone in my house is for my personal use only and not for the use by others like a business to clutter up my line and waste my time for their purposes.

If I want to contact a business for some reason, I'll call them.  You never give out any info to someone that calls you unless you want to be scammed or abused somehow.  Only a fool does stuff like that.  I pay for my phone and I'll use it for my needs only.  The hell with anyone else or a business that may think I put it in just so they could call me for their needs.  If I want someone to call me I'll let them know my phone number.  All others are not welcome.  The emergency services know how to contact you when they need to.

They have called several times a day, I will be 65 in a few months.  I answered today just to see what they were peddling, and sure enough it was Medicare Supplement Insurance.  I have reported them to the Do Not Call complaint web site.  I don't know what it takes to stop them.

1:26PM EST Called - did not pick up - this is one of several calls from this 855 toll-free number lately.  Prob Medicare supplement ins-related

Panasonic cordless phones, like the KX-TG6643B or any of the KX-TG's with call blocking, will help a lot.  Think mine will block 30 numbers and it's great.  Got mine at Amazon.

I get  a call from this number about every three days.  I have talked to a real person a couple of times. Sounds foreign.   I told her I already took care of this.  I asked her to make a note of this and to not call back.  I am still getting calls.
