8552494342 rang my cell phone? How are telemarkerters getting cell phone numbers? I did not answer.

This number is purported to be owned by the federal Social Security Administration.  The caller asked for my ssn to confirm my recent communication with SSA.  Since the conversation couldn't continue without my affirmative response, I terminated the telephone call by asking for a confirming letter.

This phone number is SS.  You should have the 7 digit extension number for the person who called you.

My wife got a call from this and they seemed to know alot about her SS retirement application. Asked for little  identifying things to prove who she was...like city of birth, maiden name, address, date of marriage, mother's maiden name, etc.   The kicker was when they asked for the last 4 digits of husbands SSN...they should have had that.

Social Security Admin call back number.  I used this number when contacting SS for benefits.

This is a valid number for SSA. If you don't believe the person calling you, wait on line with the customer service people to verify... 1-800-772-1213 is the general number as the person stated above. It took a couple minutes to get through, but it was less time than waiting for a letter in the mail and worth my peace of mind. They told me internet applications do not get processed locally but they are processed by social security employees across the country.

I got an email from "Sharon Perry," who identified herself as a Claims Representative with the Social Security Administration. She said she was unable to process my claim until she spoke with me, and wanted me to call 855-249-4342 ext. 2085325 between 2 and 10 PM, EST.
After he name, etc. it said "WEBDOC-WSU.
I sent an email to Social Security asking if  this was a legitimate email. I'll post the reply when I get it.

Is this a legit phone number for SS benefits and do they normally call on the phone? 855 249 4342

This is a legitimate phone number.  I called Social Security Administration 800-772-1213 to confirm that Doris Clark is an employee.  Not only were they able to confirm that but in looking up my record were able to confirm that I had called her and that I told her I would be calling to confirm her identity.  I had filed an internet application and she needs is handling my claim.  I am on vacation but in checking my voicemail at home, discovered that she had also called earlier to ask me to call her.  

Email I received allegedly from SSA, when I called the number they asked me to leave my SS# and telephone #  FRAUD!

 The month you can begin receiving benefits.

It's a legitimate call. You can call SSA at 1-800-772-1213. They can look up the application and confirm who is handling your application. I was told Internet claims go to different centers across the country.

I think it's fake

How could it be fake if the agency the person said they called from verified the person is an employee? Isn't that the point of independently verifying "suspicious" contacts?

My wife who is processing her SS Retirement benefits got the same kind of email.  Called the local SS office using its 800 number.  I confirmed that this Sharon Parry at the phone number she lists works for SS in the California office.

I received a e-mail from this phone number 855-249-4342 ext 2085395 that wanted to speak with me     regarding my social security benefits and when I could start collecting. this came as a e-mail with no identity about social security letter head etc. I went to the SS office to apply locally and know when I can receive my benefits I think this is fraud.
