- Los AngelesClaimed to be American express fraud department. FYA credit card services.
- Caller: American express
- Tampa| 8 repliesNOT A VALID NUMBER. They claimed to be from Bank of America USAir Visa investigating fraudulent activity on my card. But after calling the real BOA number on the back of my card, I learned their fraud department never called me and that number does not belong to BOA.
- Caller: Claimed to be BOA USAIR Visa
- Michelle replies to Tampa| 4 repliesYou are mistaken. This is a valid ph# for the fraud department at Bank of America. Prehaps the rep you spoke to did not review the correct acct. Keep in mind other people in the household we may have been trying to reach.
- Teresa BeckerClaims to be fraud department, but sounded not familiar compared to earlier calls.
- Caller: Bank of America
- ferrous oxidereceived call at 11:29 AM Nov 1 2012 no message
- OutWestCall received @ 0834 - rapid speaking female, could not make out name, claimed to be from BoA fraud division, concerning activity on a 2002 credit card. Could not confirm the phone number on the BoA site. Called the BoA 24-hr service number on back of a card. Spoke with a service rep, who transfered me to the BoA Fraud Division. The Fraud rep I spoke with confirmed suspicious activity did occur on the card, so we canceled the account immediately. Seems the 855-255-0613 number was legit in this case.
- DavidIts a valid number. I received a call from the number and based upon these messages called the number on the back of my BoA card. They confirmed the call
- Caller: Bank of America
- AtlLegitimate number from BoA fraud alert. I still called through the customer service number on the back of my card just to be sure. Apparently my Microsoft software purchase was suspicious. Do not ignore.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Frustrated with all these calls replies to MichelleThis is NOT a valid number for Bank of America. I just spoke to them to verify that, and it's not so. Just another way someone is trying to get your credit card information. Is there NOTHING we can do about these guys??
- HVM| 1 replyTotally legit number folks - they called my husband's cell and home as well. I went online and sure enough there was a hold on the card due to fraudulent activity. HOWEVER, we called the number on the back of the card anyway. NEVER return a number to anyone claiming to be a credit card or bank just to be safe. ALWAYS better to call the number on the back of the card.
- Badge714 replies to HVMThanks for putting the last part in. 800 notes is full of "He said", "They said", "She said", about a number being real or not. With caller ID spoofing, your caller ID can say "The White House", but it isn't. As you said, never give out personal information on a call you did not make, and a number you did not look up.
- Mia25This number called me and left no message. I call back and they said they were BOA fraud dept they immediately asked for my card number and security code-
I didn't give the info of course because it was all so sketchy. Call BOA at the number listed on the back of my card and they said that that number is not a BOA number. These people are scam artists! And they need to be reported!- Caller: Claimed to be Bank of America fraud dept
- tormentedI did receive a call from this number. Didn't recognize it, so I let it ring. She did leave a voicemail regarding credit card fraudulent activity. To be safe, I called the number on the back of my card instead. It did prove to be legit.
- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Prevention Department
- PinepieGot a call from this number (855-255-0613) today morning. A gentleman claimed he was from BOA Credit Card Fraud department and told me that there was a suspicious transaction on my card. Just verify that transaction was not mine. Did not ask me any other question. Once I confirm he said he would close that account and give me a new one.
After that I called the customer service number on the back of my BOA Visa card. Verified all those are TRUE.
Some people said this number could not be verified. I guess they called the customer service number on the back of their BANK CARD, in stead of Credit Card. It is possible that some BOA banking customer service operators may not know this Credit Card service number.
That's my 1 cent.- Caller: BOA Credit Card
- BofA Promotes Phishing| 1 replySo BofA thinks t's OK to call it's customers, and tell them to return a call to a number, that comes back unlisted? What is to stop *anyone* from calling me, claim to be from BofA, and then ask for my FULL credit card details? This is a SECURITY BREACH, that is being propagated by BofA. What did I do? I closed my account... they need to STOP asking their customers to give out their information to random numbers!
How to easily fix this? Just call from a legit number, or ask that we call back the number on the back of the card. Asking us to call back an unlisted number, is basically telling it's customers that no matter who calls you claiming to be BofA, you should give them your FULL credit card information, it's OK... RRRRIIIIIIGGGGHHHHTTTT.
p.s. the "manager" i closed my account with was Dawn Henderson, a "security expert" for over 15 years.. she's brilliant!
I classify this as a prank call, or even phishing- Caller: Bank of America?

- j thomas replies to marian| 3 repliesthis is a valid number, called the # on back of cc. card was compromised & taken care of. second time this has happened. it is happening all over the country, so many scum ball crooks around.
- The explanation| 3 replies
I got a call from this number. The guy did not sound as professional as usual BoA calls and it was clear that this was fishy.
Here is what can EXPLAIN ALL OF THE ABOVE COMMENTS:
- Some people managed to get your credit card number and contact information.
- They use it to buy something expensive online. The bank recognizes unusual activity and blocks the transaction.
- The bad guys call you right away to say that fraudulent activity has happened (which is true!) and, during this call, try to get all your bank information details.
- The people who used the number at the back of the card to call BoA and tried to verify the information got a positive answer because there was indeed fraudulent activity on the account. But BoA had not contacted them yet.
I hope this helps understanding and will protect people in the future.- Caller: Bank of America
- R.L.This number called me, I did not answer and called back and they said "Credit Card Department" (NFI). Reading this site I saw Bank of America mentioned so I called them and they were in fact calling me regarding fraud on my mastercard. So the bottom line for me is this number is legit but BofA needs a better way to contact customers.
- Caller: BofA (maybe subconractor)
- carlaIt is a fradulent number. Do NOT GIVE THEM ANY IMFORMATION!
