- SusanThey claim it was BANK OF AMERICA.
DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Debt collector
- KimbaReceived a call this morning. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, and they did not leave a message. Read all the comments about the number belonging to BofA fraud dept; however, I don't have an account with BofA, so why are they calling me? Sounds phishy to me ....
- BofA is Absolute GarbageBank of America has refused to fix this problem, so I cancelled. I ask all of you that receive these calls from BofA to just cancel, and FIND A NEW BANK!
BofA is really DUMB! All they would have to do is NOT call people and tell them to call back. INSTEAD... they should leave a message and ask that we CALL THE NUMBER OF THE BACK OF THE CARD.
Until they start doing that, my advice is do not give them anything!- Caller: the worst bank in america
- Call type: Prank
- betty replies to MichelleAlert to charges on credit card reflagged. To be safe call # on back of card. They were charges not made by me within the last 2 days.
- Branch Manager BofAAs a Bank Of America branch Manager i can tell you that this number is valid. What i would also like to do is educate you on what to do if you recieve a phone call like this. NEVER answer any questions when taking this call and NEVER call the number left on VM or any other message (ex. email). If you recieve a call or email about potential fraud or compromise simply hang up and call the number on the back of the card in question. It's in your best interest to NOT talk to anyone CALLING you. DO your part by calling back but use the numbers on official bank documentation.
- Caller: Bank Of America
- Scam AlertGot a voice-mail at 8:37 am about fraud activity but did not identify company associated and to call Elizabeth back at this number with reference #0004. Went to a local B of A branch and confirmed that account status is fine and nobody from B of A has contacted me by phone. Moral of story: call was fraudulent - best to ignore it.
*Called B of A customer service number earlier but something was strange because the automated prompts were breaking up and always ended up with busy signals (after prompting for acct number & last 4 of SSN or directing you to an associate) Nothing you can do is to hang up the phone and go to the local branch. Someone should contact B of A if you encounter this....- Caller: Did not identify company
- MidNYteStormDO NOT rely on the information that appears on caller id since. It could be a bogus operation displaying a Bank of America number ( Caller id spoofing) in an effort to trick people into thinking the call is legitimate. Instead you should call the number on your card or those that appear on their website.
- 855-255-0613| 1 replyThis number IS a valid number for fraud on a BOA card. This number called my cell, then called my wife's cell (which both numbers are listed in our BOA profile) and left her a message. We called the number on the back of the BOA card and asked them to check for possible fraud on our credit card and they saw the fradulant charge attempt that was declined immediately at the POS. Somebody had tried to use our card's number. After verifying we didn't make that charge, they deactivated our current card and sent a replacement card delivered to our doorstep two days later. My advice is not to answer this call, but to call the BOA number on the back of your card ASAP because there was a possible fraudulent charge attempt on your card. If you don't call they will probably shut off your card.
- Stacey D replies to 855-255-0613Completely agree with Nov 19 2014 comment. In all the times I have been annoyed when they flag charges that are mine, it looks like they finally caught fraudulent attempted chArges.
- Joe Bob| 1 reply100% phishing scam. Have you noticed that when you call the number on the back of your card, the bank has already declined the fraudulent charge?
The way the scam works is they use your card until it gets declined. That's when they know the automated fraud system has flagged the card. They then call you, giving you your own CC number back as proof of legitimacy, to see what other information you will voluntarily divulge. - Kristy replies to j thomas| 2 repliesIt isn't a valid bank of America number! The only valid number us the number on the back of the card.
- YOMEROI've received a call this morning 8 o'clock to my cell and home, the guy said it was fron the fraud department but did not ask for any information he just told me BOA was receiving a bunch of charges from different pharmacies, he told me if i have not done that charges they are going to cancel that card and issue me another one, I said OK, send it. He said they will send it to my address wich he confirm with me and that's it. I've called the number on the back of the card they said it is REAL FRAUD DEPARTMENT. I hope this info help someone.
- Caller: BOA
- bpjIt was the real deal and is a direct line to fraud protection, they called me and left a message and I then called the # on the back of the card and the guy verified it is a direct line to fraud protection. My wife purchased continuing ed off the internet and she put in the wrong exp date. Kudos to BofA
- Caller: Bank of America
- GillesI got a call with no message from 855-255-0613 this weekend. This morning I called the number on the back of my credit card as my card had been blocked and I wanted to clear up the problem. After being helped the woman gave me a direct line to call if this happens in the future, that number was also 855-255-0613. Looks like it is legit after all.
- Bob F.Received call from 855-255-0613. I called the main Bank of America phone number on the back of the card. The 855 number is the direct line to the BofA Fraud department. However for safety, always call the number on the back of the card and be routed to the Fraud Department.
- GFRThis number is in fact a fraud monitoring department for BofA "Preferred" clients. Received a voicemail from them, thought it was suspicious, called the number on the back of my credit card (the card on which the fraud occurred) and was forwarded to the department, which verified they were the ones who left the voicemail (were able to read back the phone number I had received the message from) and confirmed there was indeed fraudelent activity on my account. Shortly after the call, also received e-mails to my personal e-mail address alerting me to suspicious activity.
- Caller: BofA
- linda a jenkinsWho is this number
- MPThis IS a VALID Bank Of America FRAUD department number.
We got a call shortly after getting too many credit card charges during a trip, and getting the last one rejected (even though we had specifically informed the bank on the online portal that we were traveling abroad).
TO BE SAFE, just tell them you will call them back on the number in the back of your card. Keep in mind that when calling them back, they MIGHT NOT KNOW somebody else called earlier, or they might not tell the OTHER persons on a joint account. It is also quite possible that this is shared with AMERICAN EXPRESS, which would explain why they can't confirm if they called you earlier, unless there was something documented from the earlier discussion.
Again, this is a LEGITIMATE BANK OF AMERICA (possible AMEX too) fraud department number. And you don't have to talk to them if you are a little paranoid (like I am) or not comfortable, just use that call as an alert to call the number in the back of your card to find out what's going on.- Caller: Bank of America FRAUD Department (could be shared with AMEX too)
- karenHaving read all the comments I think it is important that people realize that there is a difference between Bank of America the financial institution where your accounts are held, and BankAmericard -- a Visa Credit Card Company. Yes, if you call Bank of America financial institution, there is a chance that they may not recognize this number. But if you call the number on the back of your BankAmericard Visa credit card, they will tell you that yes, this number truly is to their Fraud Dept. They called me while I was on the other line actually making the purchase. I appreciated their quick due process of possible fraud. They also contacted my son, who is liked to my account. I,for one, appreciate their extra efforts to cancel transactions like this 'before" they happen to save me the time and trouble filing the paperwork for fraud reports (which I have had to do twice on other credit cards).

- CSBear| 1 replyThis IS Bank of America Fraud Protection !!! I spoke to them today by calling the number on the back of my card. The number they called from is an automated alert system. They verified the number as genuine ... The caught a $400.00 charge that I did not make !!!
I wish people would stop posting false information here! Don't post unless you have all the facts!- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Protection
