- Jimmy ChenVery suspected.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Jacob TThis number claims to be bank of America but tgey are not they actually asks for your ccv number to verify your identy. They charged $6,000 to my business account that night after they called.
- Caller: Card services
- Call type: Prank
- JeffThis is a valid direct number for the Bank of America Visa Signature Credit Card Fraud department.
After reading hear, I wasn't sure so I used the number on the back card, and did confirm that this number is valid for them.- Caller: Bank of America Visa Fraud Dept.
- GeorgeLegitimate. I didn't pick up at first because I did not recognize the number and listened to the voicemail. We forgot to file travel notices with BofA credit card; tried to use the card and they called with concerns of unusual activity. They did NOT ask me for my credit card #, only asked for verification questions that I had on file with BofA to confirm my identity and remove hold on the credit card.
Reading what others have experienced, I would be careful when picking up a call from any number. There are prank apps that allow one to "Spoof" any number in an attempt to steal your identification/ credit card number. I would dial back the legitimate # 1-855-255-0613- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Prevention Department
- DScammers still trying to impersonate the B of A fraud department. Wrong bank, wrong name, wrong card number!
It is amazing to see the scammers posting here trying to make it seem legit. You guys are showing more effort than the average scammer. - MikeJScammers (and almost anyone with VoIP) can spoof the number and pretend to be calling from anywhere.
I received the call at 8:06am Central Time about a Visa Card. They left a message (probably to sucker in people who screen their calls with answering machines), but the female's accent was so thick that I couldn't make out their name (sounded like Boobie) or the name of the supposed card holder (sounded like 4 syllables)..... yet the Bank of America Fraud Department and Visa Card were clear as day.
I don't have (or ever had) a BoA account or Credit Card.
Don't believe the name or number in your caller id -- call the number on the back of your credit/debit card instead.- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Department
- Yes it is the fraud dept.I received a call from this number today letting me know there was suspicious activity on my card. Instead of phoning the 855 number I used the customer service number on the back of my card. The 855 number IS the fraud dept for BOA. I verified the number with customer service but when in doubt do call the number on the back of the credit card. I never trust phone numbers left by credit card people on my answering machine, I just think it's safer that way. But this 855 number is real.
- Caller: Bank of America Fraud Dept.
- JoeIt is a valid number. They called to verify the last three purchases made on the credit card. When I did not answer the landline they called a minute later on the cell which I also did not answer. Then they texted asking if the last three purchases were indeed valid. The text showed the merchants' names, the dates and dollar amounts. I was to respond yes if all were correct or no if at least one was wrong. B of A has many toll free numbers. What raised a flag was a premature withdrawal of the card from the reader at the third merchant which caused a rejected transaction and having to reinsert the card. The transaction was interrupted midstream. You may also get such a call upon the first use of the card abroad even if you have told Bank of America that you're going to be abroad for that time. So keep your phone open just in case they call.

Be Safe, Not Sorry
Rather than believe the posts in this thread, or the words of an anonymous caller,
if you are notified of a problem with your card,
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD
Even though the number in this thread might belong to your card issuer, the scammers can easily spoof what appears on your CallerID, and attempt to get your precious ID and card data!
Be Safe, Not Sorry!
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - Sue replies to marianI agree.
I just called the number on the back of my credit card and they person who answered called this number and verified that it IS a BofA phone number.
As to why they ask for the 3 numbers on the back of your credit card is to verify that they are talking to the credit card holder and not a scam artist.
They do NOT have the numbers and when they put them into their system, it tells them if they are correct or not. - ChicKThis is a legitimate Bank of America Number. In my experience it was the fraud department reaching out to question a charge on my credit card. At the same time they sent me a text on my cell phone and an e-mail.
- Caller: Bank of America
- William replies to marianYes, 855 255-0613 _is_ the number of the Bank of America fraud department. I recently got a call from them myself because fraudulent charges were pending on my card, I called the number back, and they were able to clear things up. That said, it may be possible for someone to spoof the number in caller ID when calling from a different number, so as always in cases like this it's best not to give personal information to someone who calls you, but instead to call the number yourself, either directly or by going through the number on your card or the BoA website. If they are legitimate they should not mind you wanting to call them back yourself, just for your own peace of mind.
- Harry replies to marianBoA Fraud Department. They answered my call back.
- IrishFRAUD - This is a fraud number. BOA has no record of this number in their system and I NEVER had an BoA card.
BoA will always say your name, as in THIS MESSAGE IS FOR NAME.- Caller: Fraud
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- JbI called BofA on the calls I received, they were NOT trying to reach me, so it's likely the real visual phone number but it's not BofA calling, their number was spoofed!
I had a scam caller once call my home USING MY HOME NUMBER -- Caller: Scam
- IremiaReThis is real. I called the number on the back of my card and the computer knew I had questionable charges on my credit card.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Valid
- Kim Jong UnThis is an actual number that Bank of America uses to call customers to alert those of possible fraudulent charges on credit card accounts. This phone number’s not listed on their website, so program it into your contacts. Stop assuming this is a scam number because you’re spresding fake news like the Russians. If a toll free number belongs to a company and you call it a scam, you’re spreading fake news. Stop trolling people.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Friendswood buyerThe best thing to do in case of suspicious fraud is to call the number on the back of your card
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- CSCaller said they were from Bank of America investigating charges on our card. Called Bank of America directly using the number on the back of our card, they said this is a scam. Do not be fooled by people posting "this is a legitimate number", IT IS NOT!!!!
- Call type: Unwanted
- WoodstockGot the call this morning from this number. No caller id and no message. I called the BofA number on my Credit Card and it turned out to be a legitimate BofA Fraud department call. Still, I would never discuss credit card information on an inbound call.
- Caller: BofA Fraud
