took it a step further and googled the number for state farm...I called gave them the claim number and they had no idea what i was talking about.

sounds typical.  Lots of crooks out there.

State Farm calling to smooth things over after the adjuster just jerked me around by threatening me they wouldn't pay to repair  the car their client rear-ended if I didn't take it to one of their approved vendors.   Sorry State Farm, but you are paying for the repairs regardless of where I take the car.  Should I ever need a new insurance company in the future, I definitely wouldn't use you either!

If you take it to one of their vendors it will be a cheap and shoddy job.  They will install used parts and then not repaint them to the original color of the vehicle.

This number called me in CT today and said there was a claim filed.  When I refused to give them my name until I found out what it is regarding they said they could not help me until I gave them that information.

just an update.  Turns out it was a legitimate call.  I found out a friend made a claim with State Farm because of damage done on my property that I didn't know about. I called them back and it was a legitimate call.  They will let me get my own estimates and I will get paid for that damage.

This is a VERY interesting case.  I got the voice message about an accident and a claim number.  I definitely had not been involved in any accident on the date mentioned so I called a known State Farm claims number to check for a possible scam of some kind.  The call/message was absolutely legit, BUT it was about a very minor accident that I had WITNESSED a month ago.  That wasn’t mentioned in the voice message, nor were any other details that might have reminded me of the incident.  Also odd is that the original call came from a number not registered with State Farm and has had at least two different private names associated with it and several scam reports, so of course it was suspicious as well.  I almost didn’t follow-up at all.  If SF is using individuals or some service to make initial contact regarding claims, they need to do a much better job of training at a minimum.

Fascinating.  I’ve checked so many numbers since sites like this started and I’ve never seen such a mix of “legit” and “scam” reports.  It really does sound like some people are getting scam calls with a spoofed legit number.  In my case the call came from a different number but this one was given as a call-back, and it was all legit as mentioned previously.

I recommend doing what I and others have done, look up the main claims number for state farm and call that.  They can check for any claim number you were given or against your phone number that was called.

Received a call from this number at work, message left in what sounds like Mandarin.  As well it sounded like the message was made from bits of other messages as each word had a slight "break" in between them.  No recognizable words in the message.  number came up as 1001 855 341 0160

Received a call from this number person claimed to be State Farm agent. Saying one of my vehicles was in an accident (it was not.) I was suspicious and hung up. Apparently they have the caller id set up to spoof State Farm's number. But this was a scam / fraudulent call. Caller was phishing for additional information. Need the year and make of one of my vehicles but not the other. Knew the name of my State Farm agent as well. Be wary!

Voice message was left, Michael from State Farm auto claims looking for a “Karen”. Definitely a scam given the history of this “State Farm” call. I also don’t have car, even a license to start. Red flags.

Got a call on my cell phone (declined as I did not recognize) this afternoon.  Just for the record, i don't use State Farm and none of my vehicles have been in accidents lately...and my actual insurance company has not called me either. Suspect scam/spoof.

call is from Russia, +7 (584) 429-26-15 and lists on caller ID as 855-341-8184, whoever they are they have others working the scam with them.

I am getting calls but I am only 12 years old and is saying a name of someone I don't know stop calling my number

Received not one but three consecutive robocall from whom I assume is scammer impersonating State Farm Insurance, I did not pick up so I'm not sure.  Three identical voicemails lasting 43 seconds were left with the following message, "That is not a valid response, when the requestor is on the line press 1, If you need time to get the requestor on the line press 2, to cancel this call back press 9".  This message repeats twice then "I'm sorry the time has expired good bye".   Super sketchy, if they were legitimate they would use a live person and leave a message.  They did not, so they get nothing. "goodbye"

This number called my daughter looking for me. I called back, he wanted me to verify my last four social numbers. I wouldn’t do that. He said I would be receiving my case file via courier tomorrow. I don’t have State Farm and have not had State Farm since 1998!!! I’ll be sure to wait for the courier....not!

I rejected a call from this number a week ago.  They called back today and left a message.  It was an automated message but my name was inserted by a robotic voice.  They said an order of process had been received in their office for several pending matters I'm being investigated for and they would be verifying my address and place of employment today.  But I could call and reference case # _______.  Failure to comply would result in forfeiture or right to settle out of court and a civil suit would be filed against me.   WTH?
