Its an attorneys office Evans Law. Spoke to a woman who said I had a delinquent  credit card from 2014. It was on my credit report they helped with a payment arrangement

Yes they are. They find info on people, get money from them, and nothing is resolved if there are any outstanding financial issues with credit card companies etc, because they are scam artists. They claimed we owed money and would be sued, it was untrue and we have reported them!

Mark you sound like you were sued because you ignored things you shouldn't have. Anyone can search Mr. Evans NYS Bar ## 2891851. He is a real Lawyer.

Wondering if this is a scam? At the very least, there is a long history of FDCPA violation complaints. There's even an alert on the BBB website for that very thing.

A simple google search for Evans Law Associates reveals a long clear history on these bottom feeders.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

The company has a number of complaints which cite violations of FDCPA, the company did not answer the complaints. Collection agencies are required to be licensed or bonded in many states in order to operate and contact consumers about outstanding debts.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Hey Mike, I want to thank you for bring this scum to our attention.  If you hadn't I would not have known about this criminal.  So as it is, you did a great service because i just posted everything people need to know to sue him, and where to report him including to the court system,  So thanks again for your help!

This is correct. The last time a scammer tried claiming to be an attorney when they woke me up with their scam call  before 8am I got the name and bar number. I looked the attorney up and contacted him. Turns out not only was the real attorney an IP (Intellectual Property) specialist, he was also someone I was acqauinted with in a virtual environment.

People need to go to their state's bar association webpage, look those bar numbers up and verify. It's amazing how many attorneys are being impersonated. The same goes for anyone claiming to be in law enforcement. The claims can be verified. Most are bogus.

Impersonating others is a crime.

By the way. when did Mark or anyone else posting here say they were sued? Or are you psychic and knew that without them saying?
