Clicked a link on my laptop and, while looking at the page, a box popped up. It said I had to call 855-442-2935 to fix my computer, because it had been infected and all of my sensitive info was being sent to hackers. I called the # and it only rang a couple of times, but nobody spoke, so I hung up. Was able to figure out how to get the pop up off of my screen and my computer is fine, but if I had spoken to someone and gone thru the "steps" to fix my computer, I'd have been putting a virus in it. What a world we're living in, huh?

I received a pop up on my lap top advising me to call the number they had listed on the screen. They claim to be with Micro Soft Security. I called that number and they wanted me to allow them to control my computer remotely. I became suspicious, hung up and called Geek Squad. They advised it was an attempted hack. They called me back 5 times from the above number. I did not answer.

The same thing happened to me! I'm glad I hung up before I gave them any info. People beware! Whoever this is is trying to put a virus in your computer.

This number is connected with online criminal activity which locks your computer when you connect to certain websites.  It is a SCAM posing as Microsoft!!!

I have the same today, I felt they were con artists and they were charging me $119.00 and said they can fix it and that they are connected/affiliated with Microsoft.  I told them I don't have money because I haven't working for years and it's true.

It's a tech scam

Tech Support scam - just say no.  They defrauded my elderly aunt out of $$$.  The phone number that displayed on the popup that appeared informing her that her computer was infected was 855-820-9746 and message said her computer was infected, she needed to call this number for immediate online assistance from a certified Microsoft technician.

just called ask about hacking.......there was a facebook  acct that I called out and now i get thie nmber... I swear I hang the lot of them

I called the number that it pop ups on screen looking like Microsoft. A guy speaking Indian accent told me my computer got infected and asked me to buy network security and fix my computer.  By the time I was asked to give them visa card information,  I felt suspicious and unplugged cable and hung up.  It's obviously a scam.

I had a similar incident it popped up after I clicked on a Facebook link. The lady did have an Indian accent I caught on before they did too much damage. My dad told me to go to Malwarebytes.org to run a free malware program and to continue running it until my computer said 0 infected files. It worked for me.

these guys are really stupid. Took two seconds to tell they were trying to scam me if you can F@#$ with them cause they get mad lol :)

I called them because it showed a microsoft window so i thought it was good when i called it there was a man on the other side i had to use the bathroom i came back and he was trying to take my card info so i shut down my computer as soon as i could luckly i did it just in time

They also said if i didnt call my computer wont be shut down and i couldn't close it call and them to f*** off

I did the same thing, but realized they are loozers before giving them any info or access to my computer

Got this red screen on my computer said it was locked up and to call this number. When I did they took over my computer and asked me to pay 375.00. I  told them no way!! They said if I went to a website  it would infect it. Brand new computer . Have to take it in to see if it can be fixed. A lesson learned. They also claim to be Microsoft.

They are LIARS & THIEVES.  Run your own virus & malware check.  If you did give them remote access, you  need to do those checks.  They are NOT Microsoft either - just Indian scammers.  Call your bank or credit card company NOW & file a fraudulent use charge.  Keep an eye on your banking information & contact list.  Do not trust anything they told you.  If there is a problem, take the unit to a local, certified repair person.

got call from some foreigner using 8554422935. The people who operate these scams should be imprisoned for life at best and executed at worst. They are the lowest of the low and are worse than murderers, traitors, and terrorists.

They claim they are Microsoft support and my computer has been hacked. It's funny since my computer is Linux.
