Your guess is wrong.  It's called "block party" - where scammers will call people related to you FIRST - in order to intimidate and scare you into paying some bogus debt, a debt that's already been paid off or even a debt that is owed - but to someone else.  Thanks for playing.

The actual FDCPA rule orders debt collectors to send a "written notice" within five days of its first contact. The dunning letter should contain a dollar amount, a creditor name, and required disclosures regarding the right to dispute. This is not validation or verification. When an alleged debtor replies with a timely written dispute, validation is what the collection agency needs to send back to lift the suspension on collection activity which that dispute enables. Sometimes agencies won't bother validating and quietly slink away. There is nothing wrong with that non-response, so long as that one company never again tries to collect that account.

Thug collectors of course try to make it hard to dispute on paper and make all manner of flimsy excuses for not fetching proof of claim. Else they want to "validate" over the phone or by insecure electronic delivery. However, validation does not mean to simply belch out whatever is already in the collector's file. The FTC requires that information "be obtained directly from the creditor" and "mailed to the consumer by the debt collector". Obviously this is not a same-day service.

Lucas --- what is an "absorbent interest rate" --- is that something like a paper towel?  I have no desire to debate you since I think we agree on something --- you are making a difference in peoples' lives.  However, I suspect it is not a positive one and I suspect it has very negative ramifications for the financial future of the most vulnerable citizens.

I doubt this person even has a $10 an hour job.  It is probably based on commissions from scamming people so he would be collecting welfare AND food stamps to buy his beer & smokes  at the minimart.  Deodorant is too expensive for it too afford on that "salary".

I, too, wondered about the "absorbent interest rate".  I think it's because Lucas and his company truly suck.

They are now trying to send me e-mails from Hopkins Lawfirm and I contacted the real law firm and made them aware that someone was trying to use them as a scam, and they greatly appreciated it.

I received  phone call from 1-855-463-8828 saying that it was a civil case and a criminal case against me and how much could I pay today. He said if I paid today they would settle for less. He even wanted to know if I had family members that would help me out. When I started to ask question he told me good luck and they could garnish my check in the state of North Carolina. Let" stop these people.

all this is, is a bunch of idiots on the other end of the line trying to sound professional and scare you into paying a debt that does not exist..what a bunch of [***]..

I have gotten calls from this place for a couple of days now and they are for my sister, NOT me and she DOES NOT live with me...they gave me a call back number and case number for her to return the call....also they said that she was evading being served and a claim was filed in our county...she (my sister) said she called the cops here in our town and they said it was a hoax, I am not so sure...

It is a scam operation, extortion scam to be exact.

They are scammers just receive a call from them
