There's a big difference, however, in doing inbound vs. outbound telemarketing.  If I call a customer service number, I do it because I need to ask a question or get some information from a company I either already have a business relationship with, or am interested in doing business with.  And I do it at a time that is convenient for ME.  This is very different from an outbound telemarketer who cold calls people, often in violation of the DNC list, and has no prior business relationship with them

I have done both inbound and outbound. When doing outbound I am only calling existing customers and surprising enough I get way more pleasant people doing outbound calling. There is not many jobs out there, and this one allows me to be with my children as much as possible. With this job I depend on nobody. So you can all label me as a telemarketer with no morals or rude for that matter. At least I am not collecting from the government and abusing the system.

What exactly do you propose I "learn" - to give information to someone who calls out of the blue, claiming to be working for Rogers?  They could be anyone, and when they ask:

Are you a Rogers customer?
Can you verify your address and postal code?
Can you verify your birth date?

I'm not overly inclined to answer their questions, given that this is the script for many scam calls.  In addition, when they start to discuss "my" services and name off services that I do not have and have never had, I'm not going to be very convinced that they are who they say they are.  Perhaps they do "have every piece of information (I) have on file," but I have no way of knowing that, given they conduct their phone calls as I've indicated above.  I do realize that they have to verify my identity in order to make changes to my account, but I'm not giving out any of my personal information to a cold caller, considering it is virtually impossible to determine if they are legitimate, especially with the prevalence of telephone scams.  If I want to make changes to an account, I'll call the company - I most certainly will not be discussing my business with a random person on the telephone just because they claim to represent said company.

Wow, have the majority of people posting on here just crawled out from under a rock? Newsflash, Zedd is one of many millions of call centers, which in most cases are hired by large companies that don't like hiring their own telemarketing employees and having to pay a decent wage so instead they contract out a third party outfit, Zedd for instance, to hire 10 people with different backgrounds and work ethics, to do a job that one person can do and instead pay each employee minimum or a dollar above minimum wage.

Now, some advice for the people who just go blind with rage over a phone call that can be easily avoided, here are some very simple steps to take,

- Don't answer the phone.
- If you're available to answer the phone, do so otherwise, if your busy, by all means don't go running for the phone only to say that your busy or to have a fit, your just wasting your time and the telemarketer's time.
- If you're interested in taking an offer over the phone, make sure to ask as many questions as you can and get the obvious details, persons name, company working for, contact number, time of call, where they're calling from... And call the company that the telemarketer was calling from a day or 2 after to follow up with your purchase.
- If you don't want calls, clearly state that you want to be put on the Do No Call list and as set out by the CRTC rules, you need to wait 31 days before being completely removed so you might receive a call within that time. companies can actually put you back on there lists after 3 years as stated in the CRTC so make sure to ask to be put on the Do Not Call list again if called and your still uninterested.
- Lastly, people who get all worked up over a phone call should know that in most cases, you sound rediculous, and extremely rude and unless the telemarketer is being an [***], try your best to act like a grown up, and if you dont like calls then simply dont get a telephone, otherwise be prepared to get a call from a telekmarketer every so often...

Oh no, someone wanted your postal code? Uh oh, better phone that one in to the police, no no no that's just not right, now your privacy will be compromised..... Give me a break. If they were trying to be sneaky and get someones personal information, sorry to break it to you but that would be only a Google away and guaranteed, theres more of your personal information found there than just the code of the area in which you live.

I'm afraid YOU'RE the one who sounds ridiculous. Unwanted phone calls are no different than unwanted visitors banging on the door. I pay my phone bill, not you or any other telemarketer. Your obsessive posting here tells me this site is cutting into your pathetic business. It empowers people and teaches them to deal with pathetic losers like yourself,who can't find honest work. And you just hate that (and we love to see how much it distresses you, which you prove with every post).

In answer to your suggestions: No.

I will not avoid answering my phone just because people like you are poisoning the medium. I will not ask to be taken off a list I never asked to be put on. I will not be polite to people who intrude upon my privacy, uninvited and unwanted.

I will do my best to waste the time of any uninvited callers and make their lives as miserable as I can. I don't really care if I sound "rediculous" (sic)  or "rude" because I place no value on the opinion of the kind of person who would take a job telemarketing.

If what you say about Google is true, why is the telemarketer asking for the information?

LOL, and your the reason I recommend to folks posting here to google their name and number and to make websites like Spokeo remove it! And to make sure their facebook accounts personal info are turned to private and not public.  You nor anyone except my friends and family, need to be calling and you certainly don't need to know a thing about me or anyone else. Its called Privacy! Suck it up cupcake your not any relation or friend and when you call, your invading people's privacy.

True. It used to be that people lived their lives. Now we just HAVE to tell everyone about it, in agonizing detail. People put all this "We're going on a vacation" information on their Facebook page, & then can't understand why the house was robbed while they were away.
