Just another scare tactic from a typical "Buffalo Bully" illegally operating debt collector. Only the original creditor can file a 1099-C form which is debt forgiveness. It then appears as income and you have to pay tax on it. Once a 1099-C has been filed, it is no longer possible to collect on that debt.

Total scam.  Read the other posts.  Ignore and block the calls.  They are not going to file a 1099C.  THis is just an attempt to scare money out of you by using the magic words "IRS."  Don't fall for it.

Got a vmail from a 215 area code (Philadephia), I live in California; something about a 1099c (IRS FORM used when a company has forgiven a debt of $600 or more; therefore it is income to the IRS that is required to report on your tax return); I do not have any debt, that debt forgiveness is a moot point.

I got a call from that same number just now. I have ties in ic3 and a few other internet/phone criminal activity services, and immediately after answering the call, one of my friends in ic3 who happened to spot the activity from the 937-999-2816 number reaching a call to me had texted me letting me know it was a scam and to just hang up and ignore any further calls from it. I'm glad I have friends to look out for me. I figured I may as well come and confirm that this number and any numbers linked to it are in fact scandalous, and this is confirmed not only here but on several other tracing sites. Thank you all for knowing the importance of sharing information.

...It's seems to be common for these guys to throw around 'the form 1099C.'  What a 1099C is is a form of income received.  Don't quote me on this, but I believe that is the form that folks who receive income from an annuity or payments from a judgment file with the IRS.  I've heard stories about folks who, ignoring the 1099C, file income tax and then had attorneys from bottom feeders come after them for that supposed income.  As I understand it, folks whose income is so low that the fraudulently added income from a false 1099C doesn't change their tax bill don't contest that 1099C and this makes it *look* as though the supposed debt was actually 'income received.'  It makes no sense but there are a lot of judges out there who aren't so savvy when it comes to debt and contract law and many of them fall for this argument. If I were being threatened with a 1099C, I'd immediately contact the IRS to see if there were, in fact, such an affidavit of income received by a third party and if so, who that party was AND, in a long advance of when tax filing was due, sue that third party in small claims court for failure to supply proof of debt.  You want to nip these things in the bud. And, above all else, talk to a competent contract law attorney.

You know most people would go on line and at least look up what they were going to write about, especially if you have to say something like "Don't quote me on this, ".  Instead you just posted a whole lot of drivel about something you clearly know nothing about.  Something that is easily found by typing in 1099C in a search engine and finding the correct IRS page.

A 1099C is a cancellation of debt and has nothing to do with "income from an annuity or payments from a judgment file with the IRS.".  It is issued in cases where you have stopped paying on something owed to a lender such as a credit card.  It can only be issued by certain entities.  Once entered, it is considered income by the IRS.  If you fail to pay taxes on that money or to report, the IRS deals with it not "attorneys from bottom feeders ".  The IRS doesn't need people like that to collect their debt.

There are so many other fallacies in your post it isn't even funny.  You obviously have absolutely no idea of what you are talking about.  None at all.

Have had several of these calls on my land line, as 215-971-2123, and they come up in various other numbers. They leave an 855# to call which is to M&S Solutions/Collections. Upon further investigation, discovered it to be a scam.

I keep getting phone calls from a 317 area code but want me to return a call to 855-528-8454. The message she leave on my voicemail States we have been trying to reach you give us a call back about an application. So we can make a decision on your behalf. She never says who she's trying to reach and where she's calling from so obviously this is a scam. Because who leaves a message on someone's voicemail without leaving that person's name or where they are calling from or who are they looking for.

Cynthia Moore, Marshall Wilcox, Janet Johnson, and Ryan Sullivan have called me. Would not divulge what company they were calling from. Asked for my SSN and said if I hung up then they were going to either serve a motion or put me in jail.

I keep getting these recorded messages to contact M&S Recovery at 855-528-8454 which is in Cambridge, MA but the actual call comes from a voip # 857-288-1328 in Cambridge, MA.  Apparently, it is a debt recovery agency but I know I don't have nor have ever had any outstanding debts!  I called Verizon to see if I could get the number blocked because I don't want to call them and give them any info.  Unfortunately, Verizon can't block #'s however the CSR tried contacting them to see if she could reason with them but they wouldn't give her any info.  They have called and left at least four messages within the past week.  I wish there was a way to keep these harassment calls from getting through but if they continue, I may have to change my telephone number!
