2 blank voicemails back to back..amex will not do anything cause they  "outsource" their collections  to 3rd party company

Called, left no message.

Lady with accent called said she was from American express and it was urgent to speak to me regarding my account. I don't have an amex account so I came online to research. Thank you for this sote. This number is a total scam. Don't confirm or call them back.

Recevied a letter and it even states on there because of the age of the debt it can not be reported to the credit bureaus, I also check my credit score 2x a year and this is not on it.  I HAVE NOT had an AMEX card since I was in college over 30 years ago.  This is NOT a legitimate debt collector and it is a robo call, scam.   If it was a legititmate debt it would be on your credit report...DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.

Surprisingly, if you received a letter that said that, then they are a little more legitimate than most of the outfits.  What was the name and address on that letter?

Callers with thick accents call from spoofed numbers in my own area code, but leave this 855 number as a call-back. They say they are calling from American Express and are leaving a message for my name, saying it is an "urgent matter". But the last time I had an American Express account was over a decade ago. There was a bad debt, but it dropped off of my credit report (confirmed!) after 7 years (that was at least 3-4 years ago), so there is NO reason these people should be calling me. I suspect these are scam calls, as they can never pronounce my name, and they are spoofing local area code numbers to call. (Not to mention the fact that I have not had an open/valid AmEx account for well over a decade.

got a call from a 469-640-7393 at my work, making it sound like i had a collection agency out after me.  how embarrassing.  told me to call this number 855-618-2435 back to have my name taken off the call list.  Found out it was "american express" which I do not have and have never had.  Kept asking me for my social security number before they could take me off the list.  That is scary.  I told them if they call my place of business again they will be sued.  This was all recorded, in India I am sure.  Now I have to face the embarrassment that I have debt collectors after me.  I pay my bills the day they come out.  This is humiliating and I wish to take action against them.

Frequent text messages stating:

“Amex Acct Status - Free Msg: Your account X1007 requires attention. Please call 8556182435 and quote ref # 00037609587. Text STOP to unsubscribe.”

I do not and have not had an Amex account in almost 10 years.

Definite scam.

Blocked the text alert #, which was “903-47”

Called with a pay off amount for amex card.  They had some but not all of my information. Spoke with heavy hard to understand  India accent. Man claims his name is "Shoaib"

It sounded like a call center but left no message on VM

I have received a couple of test messages from this number “Amex Acct Status - Free Msg: Your account X3007 requires attention. Please call 8556182435 and quote ref # 00038699608. Text STOP to unsubscribe.” I don’t have an Amex account and I refuse to text back, it’s obviously a scam.

Got a call on home phone and cell phone, with recorded message -- heavy Indian accent. The number showing on caller ID was 877-443-0144, and the callback number in the recorded message was 855-618-2435.
I called back from a totally different cellphone number and spoke with a woman 'live'.  Said the call was being recorded -- I said fine-- and would she also agree to the call being recorded! .  This was not in her script, so she was surprised. and asked me why I was recording it.  I said that in some states in the US, it was illegal to record calls without the other parties permission, and I was getting her permission to also record the call, in case there was anything illegal going on, and we needed to have a record of it for the legal authorities later. (This was obviously outside her comfort zone, and I was surprised but she didn't hang up and finally said yes, she agreed.)

There was a lot of typing, and noise in the background, and she started in to her speech about she was American Express, and calling for them. I interrupted her and asked "are you an employee of American Express?"  - Said yes.... I asked where she was calling from, and she said MUMBAI, INDIA !!    ---  I told her I did not have an AMEX card, so why would they be calling me. And, I said that I suspected this was a theft operation, working out of India, so that arrests could not be made by the US authorities for breaking laws, and that I didn't need to speak with her further.  She said I could call Amex and verify that they were a legitimate operation, working for Amex (I DOUBT THIS ).  I said, if I don't even have an AMEX card, so why should I call Amex to see if they are legitimate, since Amex would not be calling me, since I don't have a card....and that I still think they're a scam.

I asked her if she would give me HER personal information if I told her I was calling for Bank of America, and that she owed money, even if she didn't have a BofA card ? She said she understood, and that people should be careful with their information ... but that she would not be able to give me more information without me giving her my name, phone number etc. (NOT GOING TO HAPPEN !)   I said OK....and told her that I would just block these numbers so that their calls wouldn't go through any more, and I'd be done with them.

So, I'm guessing this is either a fraud operation, trying to get info from people, or an offshore bill collection group, that buys old debts or card number contact information for pennies on the dollar, then tries to get people to pay, when the debt is 10 or more years old..... DON'T FALL FOR THESE THIEVES..... The number they called us from was 877-443-0144, and the callback number on the voicemail from Mumbai was 855-618-2435..... pass this along to others so they can block these bottom feeding charlatans.....

I keep getting texts from 903-47 saying my Amex acct needs attention. Glad I found this threat. Thx guys

Multiple calls from same number, which I never answered.  They don't leave a voicemail, but this is usually followed by another call from a blocked ID, heavy India accent saying that they are calling from American Express and it is urgent that I return their call "or we will be forced to take further action".
