- MT| 45 repliesReceived a postcard from AWG Home Warranty Division trying to sell us a home warranty with the telephone number on the title of this report. Doesn't have a full address of who sent it. Just mentions the forementioned company and on the top left of the card and on the right it says it was mailed from St Louis MO. Has anyone else been receiving these cards in the mail?

- DH replies to MTI received the same thing. I believe that this is a scam. AWG is an interesting acronym. It could stand for American Wire Gauge, Associated Wholesale Grocers, Association for Women Geoscientists, and most interestingly: American Wage Garnishment. Don't be taken in by this scam.
- redd replies to MT| 5 repliesSPAM- Just got this today (5.18.17) "IMMEDIATE RESPONSE REQUESTED" Stating: "Your Property's warranty at (our address) secured by Quicken Loans (our mortg. co.) MAYBE EXPIRING - IF NOT ALREADY..
I called my Morgage lender (Quicken Loans) they were not aware of this - has nothing to do with AWG - SPAM! They follow sellers and purchases of home owners. - 8556340481| 3 repliesthis card was mailed - info above.. SPAM - seeking Home owners

- Moby replies to redd| 1 replyI received same card. Home warranties are a scam. You're still charged for the service call and they baulk at any replacements and the contractors they send are second rate. Put your money into a fund or savings account for repairs and maintenance. I do have a contract with a local company that checks and tunes my HVAC twice a year, plumbing and electrical once a year. Costs me $8.25 a month and no fee for the guaranteed yearly maintenance. Have paid for a few parts when needed for my HVAC for an improvement to the unit. No labor charges that were included as the yearly check. Maintenance is key. In Tennessee and highly recommend Hiller! Appliances not included. When I've needed repair I call a local reputable company and their charge is less than a Home Warranty service guy. Of course you pay for parts needed but they've been minimal. Buyer Be Ware! Home Warranties are a rip-off!
- BigA replies to MobyThere is generally a deductible that has to be paid by the homeowner. The contractor then looks at the job, estimates what it is going to take as far as time and material, and then spends an hour or more on the phone (uncompensated time) with the so called warranty company. They have people there that claim that they are contractors themselves and low ball the repair to the point that no contractor would be able to actually make any money. Then if you accept the price, you do the repair. A lot of contractors at that point try to cut as many corners as possible, which sometimes works and other times ends up costing them more in the long run. You never hear from that homeowner again because the next time they have a problem, the warranty company sends someone else out. Now here is the kicker. If the repair will cost to much even with them low balling it, they will refuse the repair, cancel the contract, and send the homeowner some money back, leaving them to pay for the whole repair themselves.

- Belbuckle replies to MT| 3 repliesI received the same card in the mail and it commented on the bank I had my mortgage with some years ago. They don't give you a choice to call after you have researched the company. Of course I was taken in by what they offered. I was also promised I could cancel within 30 days and get my down payment back. I doubt that.
- Belbuckle replies to Belbuckle| 2 repliesThe phone number I was given was 855-571-5329.
- pmautry replies to MT| 1 replyI received the same card. Looked up AWG Home Warranty Division,, not listed on line, just got put on hold when I called the 855 number... I hung up...I did have a home warranty several years back. Would like to know how they got my name. If I get another home warranty, it will be a company I choose. I do not trust this, so my card goes into the trash.
- BigA replies to pmautryAs previously stated, all home warranty companies are a scam.
- Richard from Hamiltion, ohio replies to MTI also received one of these postcard notice .
- Zeker| 5 repliesGot the postcard from AWG: they wanted $3559 upfront for three-year comprehensive and enhanced coverage of my home. They would not give me a copy of their coverage policy unless I gave them my credit card siding that when they send these out they never hear from the customer again and that I’m protected by a 30 day guaranteed refund. Their basis for contacting me was to announce that my home equity with USAA may have expired but did admit it had nothing to do with their warranty coverage! Lady told me she lose her job If she sent me the paperwork. Is this a scam? You decide! If she sent me the paperwork. Is this a scam? You decide!

Simple common sense dictates this is a scam, did you really NEED someone to point it out?
