- Trudy Futch| 1 replyThese people originally called a month ago stating I have a debt with Alltel, and when I can be home to be served. I told them I would be happy to pick up the papers and they got really mad and hung up. They called my ex-husband's ex-wife (who I do not associate with and she lives out of town) asking if they could "serve" me there. Today they called again asking if they could serve me. I told them I would be happy to pick up the papers at the courthouse and accept service myself. They became very angry so I gave them my address to "serve" me papers. I have no debts and have no idea what this is regarding. They are very angry people and are nasty on the phone. Please help stop them from harrasing inocent people.

- courtney| 2 repliesOkay....so here is the funny stuff! I replied on this web page with details about our issue with this number. I have been following other people's post for a few days. After the call came to my grandmothers house looking for my husband, i called them back. Like i said before, they knew me by name too. However, my husband & I started calling them back & harassing them. We must have called like 50-60 times over the weekend. Today about an hour ago, I started calling them back again. Of course I got the same annoying, rude lady. This time she told me to quit calling her business, I laughed at her & told her she was as ignorant as she sounded. After calling back 4 more times leaving lengthy messages on their VM, the 5th time I called it said their number had been disconnected! TOO FUNNY! I love it. So for the time being, maybe they will quit freaking innocent people out! Hope this helps not only me & Barb, but everyone else!

- David| 2 repliesCalls are getting more frequent. When I told the person not to call anymore, they say they don't have to obey the Do Not Call Registry. It's getting worse, I will call the state's Attorney General office.

- Alfalfa replies to DavidConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- stacey| 2 repliesthey originally called my mother in law and told her they have been trying to serve me court papers. They told her to tell me to call them at 855-811-8259 and reference a case# they gave her. She said they sounded very official and she was worried. I called them back because I had NO idea what it could be about, the first person put me on hold, and I got disconnected, called back and got an answering machine, left a message, third time (i was determined to find out what the hell this was about) i got a actual person, who immediatly asked me my case #, she told me she could not tell me what it was about and would connect me to MY case manager. The case manager (don't remember a name) asked me to verify the last 4 of my s.s # he told me the first 5 and asked me to verify the last 4..which FOOLISHLY i did. HE told me he could not tell me any information unless i verified my s.s. number. (should have know right then and there it was a scam) he then proceeded to tell me I was going to be served court papers to appear in court to collect a debt from 2002 for bank of america...I told him I never had a loan or anything with bank of america, he said I must have had a mastercard or something that was charged off and they bought and are now collecting on, in the amount of over 3 thousand dollars. I told him I had no idea what he was talking about, told him to serve me the papers. It was after hanging up and googling the phone number I learned it was a SCAM! I immediately called them back and got their voice mail. I left a irate message telling them i was reporting them and to stop callling me and my family. I then called back 3 more times and left 3 more messages... ;-) I told them if they keep bothering me I am going to keep calling them..I suggest everyone else do the same, become their worst nightmare and they will most likely disappear...
