- catkin938(855) 891-8849 keeps calling and leaving no message. Caller ID says "Midland Credit:". I have no debt so can't imagine why they just keep calling 3 times a day or more. I don't answer and this number is now blocked!

This company buys debt and goes after all leads (valid or clearly not) and persistently harasses people mostly via endless phone calls and also through nuisance lawsuits (where no-shows-lose).
There are THOUSANDS of complaints and they lost a big action against them in 2012 but came back with more aggressive action than before, to dun, intimidate, defraud, harass, and deploy armies of lawyers and robocalls. THEY HAVE JUST BEEN FOUND IN VIOLATION OF LAW - Massively - AND HAVE 60 days to reshape their practices of relying on dubious information and of harassment. They must already pay millions in fines (though they rake in billions from their criminal, unethical practices and just write it off), but nobody in charge has been jailed. This needs to change with criminal charges and punishment at the top, and/or the revocation of this company's charter to operate. REPORT THEM! REPORT THEM!
Below are the details of this month's actions, and a link to the actual order, including the order to pay restitution, to stop their practices of fishing using questionable leads or zero reason to proceed. Some indeed have debts, but millions of others get harassed for no reason by this corporate evil beast of greed and lawlessness. If you have no old or new debt which is unpaid and they call you persistently, you may already be part of (another) class action suit. In any case, document the harassment and if they don't change their stripes and begin to respect people and law, show each of their violations and complain to your state AG and consumer bureaus and protection offices. *IMPORTANT* - I began a complaint/legal process to cease and desist and discovered that this sleazy company has just been found in violation of massive law-breaking and statutes - for their harassment by phone and lawsuit. They were ordered as of 3 September these slugs were ordered by Richard Cordray, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, to pay massive fines and immediately respond within 60 days by responding/complying so as to NOT act on dubious hunches or info, nor use unscrupulous threats or lawsuits to intimidate.
This would be a splendid time to complain vigorously if you (like me) are non-stop harassed by this poor excuse for a company. Complain to the CFPB if you can show that Midland and its parent company are ignoring the enforcement order and law (as usual). In my case, since the order came down, my calls have doubled, I suppose they're working hard to hook as many victims as possible before the deadline.

Add your complaints, document calls (log, photos, etc.) and as they ratchet up their calls even more before the order takes effect (as it seems), make them STOP! File complaints.

- carj1118Just recieved call from this number. I did not pick up unknown caller calls. I called back and the person that answered had a heavy accent claiming he was from Midland Credit. I asked him why do they keep calling my number. He asked if I got the call from the number I just used to call. Then he wanted to know my name. I refused to give him my name and asked who they were looking for. The person he said was not me and I told him never call this number again because that person does not live here.

- carj1118 replies to STOP MIDLANDJust called me and I called back. They wanted my name. I would not give it to them and asked them who they were looking for. It was not even my name. I told them to take me off call list. It is very aggravating!!!!
- AndyBottom feeding collectors. Never worry if they are calling correct people. Called here 3x a day every day for several weeks. I found out about them from 800 notes. Just to see if anything was up, I checked my credit reports with annualcreditreport.com. All clean, so I purchased a CPR call blocker and blocked them, when they change #'s they will be blocked again.
